Super-oath month continues to expand Two Desperate Mercenaries, Killjoy, Hans, Santana Ortega, and two TtB minis, all 28mm Malifaux. I'm chopping out the ankle bits, which should bring the Convict Gunslinger proxy down to a normal human size. Angelica gets to stay huge, though. Just noticed that you can't see the post-conversion image in my oath picture, but you should be able to see after the conversion that she's not the same height. Oath Complete will have a better view I'm sure.

(Dammit, now I have to follow the Wizard-Van Wizard Van, rassum frassum...) I, Dr. Gargunza, running a bit late, oath to paint (5) Necron Deathmarks! Games Workshop, 28mm. Nothing's primed yet, just slathered in my usual 17 oz. of liquid greenstuff per square mm of model: This month's Journal is the middle dude, who I'm cutting and re-assembling as the spotter for the squad. Here's what his component parts looked like pre-cutting (the model itself has the same stance as most of the other Deathmarks when assembled and posed typically): And after cutting and re-assembly, with re-bent joints, altered rifle barrel grip, repositioned left foot, and a freehand-sculpted monocular rangefinder technowhatsit added to his left hand: The left arm and head are held on with blu-tac at the moment. All the heads on the other 4 models are also just blu-tac'd in place for right now, so there may be slight variations in head positioning after I've finished painting; everything else is glued in place.

After an embarrassingly long time for a single space marine, OATH COMPLETE Jurnal is the backpack as shown in my oath post. Why is this Thousand Son partially Chaosified, but still wearing his pre-Heresy livery? Here's a Backstory to explain! It wasn't a good time to be one of the Thousand Sons. The Primarch had gone off to some meeting or another on Nikaea, which the Legionnaires whispered amongst themselves boded no good. Ahzek Ahriman had started taking an altogether creepy level of interest in those brothers suffering from the flesh-change. The Space Wolves were giving them dirty looks from across the battlefield. And as if these ominous tidings weren't enough to have on an Astartes's mind, the whisperings from the Tutelaries had started to get downright... bizarre. The psychic familiars had always whispered benevolent warp-whispers into the Sons' ears, but now they were starting to offer advice on matters outside of their usual domain. Suggestions about fashion, of all things. "Your warplate should be more ornate," their oily whispers hissed into the Legionnaires' auditory centers. "Have the artificer put some pointy bits on it." Or: "Put this flaming eye insignia upon your armor; it will bring you great power." Brother Rutentuten of the Pavoni had humored his Tutelary so far, even when it suggested that he should install an impractically unwieldy headdress on top of his helmet. After all, the other members of his squad were doing it. And to be fair, it did seem as though it magnified his psychic powers a bit. But when it told him to get his backpack modified so that the vents jutted out on long struts, he drew the line. That idea, he decided, was simply too ridiculous. The Tutelary had to be pulling his leg.

I know you have your reservations about the bolter also being red, but it's such a pure, smooth, unblemished red all over the model that I think you won out in the long run. I'm jealous! Some of the wires and cabling could use some color though, to help break up some of the monotony.

I'm jealous! Thanks, coming from an amazing painter like you, that means a lot. And yes, I agree. It's stuff I'll work on and maybe revisit this model down the road, but I'm considering the oath done for this month. I've had to be pretty conservative with how I allocate my modeling time lately.

Oh god, it's almost the 20'th and I have nothing down, what to do what to do? I, Haydrian, Oath five Ork Boyz (courtesy of Games Workshop). Now if work could kindly gently caress off for at least three days I might be able to get these hammered out within the time limit... edit: What am I going to do for Cut and Swap? Let me show you... I didn't think of this until I was mostly done with basecoating, I was playing Heroes of the Storm and I saw the pirate captain's peg leg on the loading screen, instant inspiration! One quick slice with the hand saw, then dremmel out a pilot hole and superglue a piece of piano wire in as a jig. And now for the Greenstuff. The bottom of the wire was a convenient handhold to spin it around and get an evenly shaped section for the peg. A bit more going up and over the knee for a brace, and a bit of hardware that holds it together. I waited for a few hours for the greenstuff to harden, then primed it on the model with liquid gesso. Love that stuff... By a happy accident, this model had a bit of forward lean on the other foot, so I could more easily balance him forward and leave the peg leg in a dynamic pose off the base. Here's one for the Freebooters, for sure! Haydrian fucked around with this message at 06:20 on Sep 30, 2014 |

Skyrazor Jetbike I forgot to take pictures of the stuff pre-assembly, but, well, the Skyrazor was only released this month... Edit: Skyrazor is Mantic Games, jetbike is Games Workshop, the whole thing's gonna be used for Deadzone.

I oath a 40k Killa-Kan with 2 sets of magnetised arms For the Jurnal I'm doing some magnetisation cut-and-swap on the arms, to make them interchangeable and also easier to store/transport. Each socket joint has a brass rod to act as a pivot and support most of the weight, with a magnet to hold it in place. The end result is a surprisingly strong join.

I, Schmetterling, oath this Malifaux 28mm Freikorps Specialist for the month of September The cut-and-swap element is the flame from the flamethrower. Before cut: Intended look after swap: (It's part of one of the flame elementals from the first Bones kickstarter. I'll glue it on after painting so it doesn't get messed up) I kind of really want to make my Freikorps scheme really fancy... like, purple and gold fancy. That'd be ok on a team of super mercenaries, right?

I WhoteOutMouse Oath 6 minatues (1 plasma, 1 melta, 1 flamer, 1 Sargent and two basic guardsmen). 28mm Mantic minis with GW bits added. Themed Group The special weapon guys have their guns cut away and GW replacements put in place. The flamer has GW Cadian arms replacing his Mantic equivalents. Sargent has a head swap with GW Fantasy dark elf warriors in an attempt to help make leaders stick out and I thought it looked 'Nod' enough. Most are unprimed, two are primed white. Ninja Edit, upon closer inspection the two that are primed white had a frostbite blue slapped on their pants. I guess that counts as a one-color base coat, I will have to cover that anyway.
