yaffle posted:Viz requires a certain amount of cultural capital to get the most out of it, you need to have read british childrens comics in the 70's/80's to get a lot of the jokes. Imagine a gross adult humour comic based on the Archie books, now try to explain why it's funny to someone who never read the originals. I think this is the first ever 8ace comic. It's perfect.

A man vomiting into an already full bucket of piss and poo poo is poetry to me, alright?

MikeJF posted:Boulet is always brilliant but that posted one is pretty meh compared to a lot of his stuff in my opinion. The problem with most his comics is that they are quite long and usually not funny in a nedroid way. More like bittersweet funny. I really like them and have all his books, but I think it's pretty hard to find a short comic from him that most goons will find genuinely funny. It's really an artist that delivers more on the long term, when you become familiar with his story and universe.

I'm trying to disect all the little details here - The snowmen's eyes aren't lumps of coal, they appear to be cut black diamonds - I don't think it's the snowman talking, but the actual hat, like some villainous perversion of Frosty. - The zigzag lines usually mean electronic voices, which might mean the hat is a robot, it contains the speaker for snowman robot, or the snowcommander is commumincating with his snowsoldiers.

Is it like a stay-puft marshmallow man kind of deal where they took on the form of Frosty to appear less theatening, or do they just happen to come from a planet where the military dress is an old top hat and a corncob pipe?

Franquin! I think that's from when he went all nihilistic with Idées noires? (Translation: He thinks the eyes are city lights) Yeah, like this and Drunken Bakers can tell you, European comics are pretty dark sometimes. DarkCrawler has a new favorite as of 10:13 on Sep 19, 2014 |

According to him it wasn't just tied to his depressive mood, but more a way for him to talk about serious issues (pollution, death penalty, capitalism, ...) still with a bit of humor. Anyone who sees this book sold somewhere at a correct price should purchase it immediately. Hey! Listen, you are quite swole. Can you carry this for me for a few meters? My sandal is untied. Ok but hurry up... my tool bag is already heavy enough Ouch! Be cool, take this back. Two minutes. drat sandal again. Again? What the heck is it with your sandal? a pebble between the sole and... Ouch! It's sharp dude. I could risk a hole in my foot! Oooh. Help me quickly! Really not my day. GOD drat! Praised be I. A broken strap. I stepped on it. Thanks, just need to find a new one. What the. You are barefoot! You don't have any sandal! Sadist! SpaceGoatFarts has a new favorite as of 10:39 on Sep 19, 2014 |
