Just checking in after five years (haven't listened since 2009). But those of you who are still subscribed, what are you paying these days? I ask because I just bought a new car, which came with 3 free months. I've heard siriusxm tries to charge you more based on the make of your car (Mercedes). Has anyone found this to be true? I'm thinking I'd max out at $75/year for it for the music stuff alone. Since I don't listen to Howard and I could just stream iTunes Radio in my car, Sirius overall has lost most of its appeal.

Howard should have just done podcasts from the beginning and charged the user directly. Oh well.

I couldnt stand the quality of sirius.xm when we had the free trial. It sounded like a 16 bitrate mp3.

It's also great to know that you'll have all of your channels for road trips or just to peruse and see what they have when the only other option you'd have is mountain people radio.

That would require Howard to have even the slightest grasp of the capabilities of the Internet and how much dough you can make. It's pretty funny to listen to old shows where they rag on Jackie's website. Sure it was lovely but I feel like Stern missed an enormous opportunity with an online presence. Hell, he had an OnDemand channel like, 3 years after people stopped giving a poo poo about cable.

http://gossipextra.com/2014/09/16/howard-stern-move-palm-beach-permanently-4061/ Howard is supposedly set to permanently move to Palm Beach next year, and fly back and forth to NY to do the radio show. Does anyone honestly think he'll re-sign with SiriusXM at the end of 2015?

I would imagine he'll stay in NY for as long as his parents are alive (or move them to Florida with him). Not to be morbid, but they can't have THAT much longer on this earth.

They eat like a cup of sawdust a day, work out and have incredible wealth, they should be kicking for another 10 years or so at least, but on the other hand, Richard's father eats rodents he runs over and they will probably outlive everyone.

I just found my hardcover copy of Private Parts that I bought when it first came out in 1993. There are pictures of his dad and he looks like he's at least 100 years old...and that's over 20 years ago. Must be the sardines and halibut.

During the Ike Berenholtz interview, he imitated Mark Wahlberg and said something like, "If I'd been on the plane I'd have stopped 9/11." Was that some comedic flourish or did Markie Mark actually say that?

I don't really want to de-rail this thread further, but I just want to say I'm really surprised how good it is. It's basically Gilbert and a celebrity reminiscing about old Hollywood. Typically, they will have had been part of old Hollywood and have lots of interesting stories. I'm on episode 3 now, Larry Storch, and the first two blew me away (like how Marilyn Monroe really died, how to properly imitate Alfred Hitchcock, etc.)
