My Sultai brutally murdered the tempo decks but could do literally nothing against either High Sentinels or Ivorytusk Fortress. At the prerelease, opened and am gonna play two fetches for delve value. Probably a bad call but YOLO. There was a loving feeding frenzy on Asan boxes, glad I was able to get one as a person who genuinely enjoys their aesthetic, as opposed to all the try hards (this is tongue in cheek and I realize I am unfairly assuming things)

(Which, in fairness, is the correct move because even if the first clone is a 0/0, you don't want a flying guy with a clone cipher starting to copy things that *won't* immediately die once he figures it out.) Every counterspell, every killspell, etc., saved him from repeated attempts to embarrass himself.

Sultai is really bad. 167 players and every Sultai player I talked to had the same problem I did of nothing in their deck costing less than 5, unless it was a morph. Going Abzan tomorrow night.

A report on My first pre-release, 1. I won 2-0. 1st using only Take up arms, Despise, Mardu Skullhunter, and Awaken the Bear and 2nd 2. I pulled Sorin. 3. I got to play Sorin. 4. I got to make Sorin's emblem. 5. I had to go home because it was 2am and my ride was not staying to see how round 2 went. So Good night overall! I got Speed vs. Cunning and the Azban intro deck so I ended up spending like $60 on cards though so... Yeah. Also, I got Ugin's Nexus I guess? EDIT: $60 not $50 Gensuki fucked around with this message at 08:11 on Sep 20, 2014 |

Got the bye on round 3, due to dismal performance. Opened my prize pack of M15, pulled an In Garruk's Wake. That makes today's items of note a Bloodstained Mire and Garruk's Wake. Could be worse.

Went 2-2 with Jeskai at the midnight. Game 3 of one of the matches that I lost, my opponent was on 1, then flipped Thousand Winds, and I couldn't topdeck anything relevant. Then they Jeskai Charm-ed and gained 10 life. Khans was certainly fun to play, though. Also, I opened promo Narset and a Bloodstained Mire.

Just got home, mardu tokens with butcher of the horde net me several game wins and 2 matches. My two winning packs were spicy, my first being bloodstained mire, and the second being Sarkhan. Had a friend open up a foil Windswept Heath, a very nice night overall.

Ended up 2-2, could have won at least one of those matches if I had remembered the raid lava axe existed and used a removal spell on a 2/2 to keep my life above 5 instead of holding it for a bigger creature or a trick. Shame on me. As mentioned, I opened two fetches and my two prize packs yielded up a third-- a Delta and two Mires altogether. I'll take 2-2 and opening three fetches on the evening, any day.

Went 3-1 with a crazy temur pool featuring a promo surrak, savage knuckleblade, bear's companion, and a little guy named Sarkahn. Even got to live the dream of a turn three knuckleblade with haste into a turn four Sarkhan thanks to the blue one drop that can sac for a basic.

I went 5-0 ended up with 3 polluted deltas 2 flooded strand 3 bloodstained mire and traded into most of my mardu deck. I'll post an imgur of the deck when I get home. It was the stone cold nuts.

First prerelease ever for me. Went 2-2 with Mardu. My promo was Mardu Ascendency and man is it nuts how many goblins you can pump out. Got two prize packs and pulled the Clever Impersonator from one . No fetch land but that's still damned good. I really have to say as well that Act of Treason is sickeningly good. Just watch someone put all sorts of +1 counters and stuff on a creature, swing with it and next turn I just grab it and wreck face. Edit: Someone pulled a Polluted Delta and a foil Pearl Lake Ancient from the same pack and was pretty excited. I dunno, I just do not see that having any playability in any way at all. So overcosted and abilities nobody is ever gonna care enough to use. Tracula fucked around with this message at 12:01 on Sep 20, 2014 |

4-0-2 as Mardu. Was a pile of two drops (triple hasty 2/2s), Zurgo, a pair of ponyback goblins and those raid guys who get back two drops, and some of the expensive removal. Biggest disappointment was kill shot, my opponents were always on the back foot, and mostly never attacked when I had mana up. I wish I'd just played another throttle over it. Wish I had ride downs, too, but didn't see any, but I can't really complain since I only dropped one game all night and got 22 packs waiting for me.

q_k posted:Went 2-2 as Sultai off of delve action and having a Sidisi as my promo card. Did anyone else have a lot of ties at their store? Yes but it made total sense- more casual players, totally new cards, and everyone is tired as gently caress and making the kinds of play mistakes you make at 3am. Went 1-1-1 drop- got stuck with a very mediocre Sultai pool (clans were randomly assigned though you could trade). The tie was due to slow play and an involved game 1 that my opponent eventually pulled out. I crushed game 2, and he played for the draw in game 3 and I couldn't quite finish him off in time due to chump blocking- the final turn he was at 3 and had a blank board vs. Pearl Lake Ancient, a Sultai Scavenger and something else that would have killed him the following turn as well. Oh well. The loss was 1-2 to a dude who had assembled a great Mardu deck from a Temur seeded pool and had ALL the threaten effects- which is very good in Mardu! One of the games I got smacked with my own creatures at least 3 times. Honestly losing was something of a relief because it meant I could go home and sleep. Also I didn't have high confidence in my pool because while my deck could curve out well I had literally 3 playable non-creature spells in my colors and no bombs whatsoever. May try again tomorrow if I'm not a total wreck. LGD fucked around with this message at 12:15 on Sep 20, 2014 |
