I was on mumble when Bob was first outed - Someone who was an old EVE goon told the mumble channel we were in the whole story about how Bob made his 14? 15? year old girlfriend get naked and do sexual acts to 50+ eve goons on tinychat, after reassuring them she was totally 18 for reals, and how she apparently signed up for SA at some point and posted her story about how she was underage and how bob had destroyed her life, and how the images had somehow spread among where she lived so her friends and family and school had all seen these images. Apparently, somehow Bob covered this all up and made it sound like she was lying, and somehow got away entirely scott free from this. Apparently he was banned at some point but got it overturned, too? I'm fuzzy on the exact details on how it got covered up. I'm honestly amazed that so many people knew about this and never said anything until some random guy told the story on mumble. There was at least 50 people implicit in essentially making child pornography.

SCT wasn't online at the time. Nobody else in the mumble had heard of this, everyone's suitably horrified.

Someone goes and yells at SCT about why he was allowed in this guild. SCT has never heard this story before, and in fact did not even hear the full story on mumble, and asks Bob about it, who gives him some sort of bullshit story about an old vindictive girlfriend from iceland that was totally 18 guys for real - SCT is gullible and believes him, as at this point all he's heard is a couple people yelling at each other on whispers. (This is where the screenshot happens).

Shortly afterwards, Stormgale hears the whole story and kicks him. SCT and Kimsemus then both hear the whole story and agree with Stormgale's decision. This all happens within like.. 6 hours. There's never any attempt to get Bob back in the guild. Nobody at any point defends Bob after hearing what he had actually done, unless you try to turn Tokaii being unfortunately pedantic at the completely wrong moment as a defense.

Everyone on the chat and thread start talking about this, but people want to drop it as the guy is kicked and they want to avoid goon drama since it's already over and done with. People take this as some sort of desire to 'cover up' some dirty secret instead of an attempt to avoid turning the archeage thread into Pedophile Discussion Chat. Bob's sponsored invites are kicked almost immediately.

A couple days later, Doublestep is apparently still playing with Bob - The moment it's posted, he's kicked without anyone really caring.

SCT was gullible and maybe indecisive, but presumably no less than the no doubt dozens/hundreds of goons that have interacted with Bob over the last four years. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt, since he doesn't seem to be the kind of guy that would knowingly support a pedophile, and just assume that he was taken advantage of.

the funniest thing, imo, was it was just on the verge of calming down and then some idiot had to go in and deliver his two cents. they cannot loving stop doing this. they have to try to get in the last loving word. and it's so incredible.

I think there might be a difference in what he meant by that and what you are assuming he meant by that. That is, the difference between "I hosed up and just wanted to stop talking about it so I tried to play it down," and "I was actively defending a pedophile." But of course, I can't actually speak for sct. I think the important thing here is that everything happened and was dealt with over the course of a couple of hours. Sct was bombarded by angry people in a very short amount of time, and I really don't have much trouble believing that he was legitimately confused and said some dumb things in the heat of the moment because he really didn't know what was going on. Wolper's post is a really helpful, reasonable summary of the whole sordid affair and it would be really nice if we could just talk about the game rather than going over this again and again and trying to hang Sct for a few dumb statements made during a difficult situation and approximately 2 hours of indecision.

I already admitted I tried sweeping it under the rug. He also never admitted to being her being underage. He told me he never dated her and he talked poo poo to her and she sent him pictures. He also told me she was 19. This is what he told me last night. This was all I knew and I had no idea the severity of the actual issue.

I made a mistake and backed him before seeing both sides of the story.

SCT certainly showed poor judgment during this whole ordeal and may or may not have tried to sweep it under the rug due to funneling gilda stars to BFM. But other officers certainly didn't care that resources had been funneled to BFM when they swiftly booted him after being briefed on the situation. I think the vast majority of the guild was unaware of the situation, but I think those that are would feel more comfortable with someone like Stormgale making executive decisions going forward.
