Howdy all, thought I'd share some info about the new preferred Slayer task system. First of all check this out from the official RS wiki. What to note is the weighting system for each task a master can assign, explained thusly: quote:Slayer assignments work from a weighting system - each Slayer target has as specific weighting for that Slayer master. To estimate your percentage chance of obtaining a slayer task, you can add up the weightings for targets you can be assigned from the tables above (So don't add any NPCs you have blocked or don't have the requirements for). Therefore, tasks you don't like that have a high weighting are better to block, while those you hate with a low rating are better to simply skip. Likewise, those with a low weighting that you enjoy/are great xp are better to prefer, while a good task with a high weighting (such as airuts) can be left alone (unless you want them always extended). Preferring a task will also automatically extend it. I believe an extended task is 20% more than what you'd get normally. For how preferring works, think of the tasks a master can assign as a drop table. The task is rolled when you ask for a task, and if the task isn't a preferred one it rolls again and if that one's preferred, you'll get it. If not, you'll get the original one. It's like an invisible slayer VIP ticket except you don't get to choose for yourself.

So... I haven't played this game since around 2006 or so. I remember back when getting over 1Mgp was considered your entry into the big leagues of wealth. I also remember that my character was mostly mid-70s to upper 80s in most levels. I found this thread and I see the mention of being able to buy subscription time with in game currency and I wonder if it's easy enough for someone whose not going to be able to play more than an hour or so a night. Can someone elaborate on that system and tell me if it's worth it for the ridiculously casual? player like myself?

Those are called bonds, and run around 6 million a piece - membership is for two weeks per one. As for their worth, depends if you do at least some bossing for pretty much only viable income. Few hours with proper bosses and you should have at least by then recouped that bond.

There will be 3 dyes you can get from hard and elite, which you can use on high level weapons & armour. These are barrows, shadow (rise of the 6) and 3rd age themed. Dyed items do not degrade to dust, but have to be repaired. They did some strawpole and 70% voted that dyed objects should be untradeable. I might have a few details wrong. They also showed off an update to summoning to make combat familiar a lot better that will be out on Monday. They were miles better and you could set them to auto use scrolls. I'll start actually using familiars after Monday. There was an early prototype for the snowman boss which had a load of novelty attacks. Only Santa can deliver the final blow, and so you have to lead it to wherever he is. Along the way it will snow up the place. Looked fun. Then there was some new Verago attack where he pretends to be a clock or something. I dunno. And they teased an override of that weapon you use to defeat him.

It was pretty easy to do, with the only annoying part being where you'd have to run and get more free buckets once a day. There was also... some sort of kingdom management thing where you'd put money in, and get resources out, which made it pretty easy to make a profit through herbs and herblore, as well as, iirc, fishing.

Player owned ports will get you enough every week or so to cover a bond for two weeks of membership, but only if you've already got a few level 90+ in the right skills and only after a few months of voyages. you don't have to do anything besides click a few menus a few times a day to start and then by the later stages only once a day

Holy poo poo. I actually remembered my password from 2006. Even holier poo poo, my character still exists. Holiest of shits, I remembered my bank pin. I'm afraid to take anything out of it though, because the last time I was a member, I stuffed it with useless things, and then when I let my membership run out before quitting, I learned just how restrictive f2p bank space was. I'm not gonna get deeply involved until a couple weeks from now, when I have more money to throw around, but for now, here's my stats. Considering I played maybe an hour or two a day for a few years, and got to overall level 70 in combat before switching to p2p, I don't think that's too shabby. EDIT: Apparently I'm wrong because I'm wearing Christmas ghost robes, which are from 2009 and I have goon naes that I recognize still in my friends list. Still, very nearly 5 years. I bet you got more from your two keys than from the clue.  I prefer elite clues. Like celtic knot puzzles, the directional finder arrow is fun, I also like scanning(not including pisc hunter area or haunted woods area, screw those places). So, I have 7.5mil in my bank. I kinda want to buy a bond on the grand exchange and then hope like hell I can get the money train set up in the 2 weeks I have so that I can start buying them regularly. Given my skills and prospective play time, does anyone think that's feasible or foolish? It seems like you need 90+ in any skill to be worthwhile at it or make decent money off of it, but given that my highest skill is 70, I'm not sure I'll be able to get to that level in just 2 weeks.
