Well I got the Korg official MS-20 plugin to work in Reaper, so the Taktile goes up in my estimation since it comes with the Korg legacy collection and some other poo poo too.

david mammoth posted:I don't own one so take this with as many grains of salt as necessary but I think the Triton taktiles come with a bunch of preset Triton PCMs as opposed to the engine as such, though presumably the M1 organ/piano etc. will be among those so that may not matter to you. All Taktiles come with Korg's M1 program and plugin,so if you get the Triton you get it twice.

I've got lemur and the very early stages are fun. Once you want to anything even slightly more advanced you need to start scripting. And beyond the manual its really tricky to learn much else via typical internet whatever.

I didn't see it posted here yet but someone decided that the BCR2000 would be a cool step sequencer so they're releasing an OS that makes it a standalone sequencer and it looks interesting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuwrqdzXwcY Pretty simple to use once you get the hang of it I'm sure. Here's a vid of it in action as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHpferTew2M It'll be on sale in October for 69 euro which is kind of steep but if you have a BCR already it might not be a bad deal.

The Bass Station II is a pretty good option if I want a cheap analogue monosynth yeah? I want the whole 1-knob-per-function deal and this seems pretty close, and I like the design better than the microbrute.

Forgive if this was already common knowledge, but I just learned about Chrome Brulee over the weekend. They're a synth ensemble that produces totally rad straight-up 80s synth soundtrack-type music. They release their songs on cassettes. Their promotional videos are pretty fantastic; they totally capture the 80s VHS aesthetic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EXpAfV85Ns https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVlm5aJRAbA I've found them pretty inspiring.

Late synthember entry - my improvised live ambient set performed at a local jazz club at the beginning of the month. Palpably runs 15 minutes too long 'cos The Propolis spent ages faffing around setting up to play after me and then lost their singer in the toilet. https://soundcloud.com/ynohtna/arboria-auralist-live-at-createbeep-the-verdict-20140906 Gear: Error Instruments Fertas-1, two Buddha Machines, iPad with Alchemy, hydrophone in heavy glass half full of beer (agitated by hand, teaspoon, audience noise, PA feedback), Faderfox controlling Numerology 4, a handful of samples/loops, lots of tuned reverb, 3 instances of Echoloop in a two-parallel-into-one-serial configuration controlled by Keyboard Maestro, Madrona Labs Aalto, more than a little delay and digital tape saturation, etc etc etc.

I know it's not a hard synth but I'm going to buy a 49 key midi controller by the end of the month and I need help deciding between the Akai MPK49 and the M-Audio Axiom 49. I can find both basically new on Kijiji for $200. The Akai is the older model. Any suggestions or experience with either?

The Axiom 49 was my first MIDI controller ever in 2007. That one broke after like a year or 2, and I replaced it with another Axiom 49 because I think I'd bought some kind of warranty on it at Guitar Center. That one lasted for another like...2 years? Then it broke and I've had an Oxygen 49 ever since which is still alive and kicking after a few years of owning it. I was never even that hard on the Axioms and they still managed to break anyway. The pads on the Axiom loving sucked though. I bought a padKontrol so I could have something separate with better pads and I don't regret that at all. The padKontrol rules.

I have a Nocturn 25 (mainly a guitarist but I use vst synths and it's good for quickly auditioning Battery kits etc) and the thing is pretty solid, no issues in 3 years of use, and Automap is pretty slick too.

I might be suffering from a severe case of Waffleiditis. Nearly everything I do these days is sample based, so I've been thinking about selling of a large part of my synth collection in favor of buying an AKAI MPC 2500 or an Electron Octatrack and getting some sort of an allround synth like a Prophet or a NordLead for some pads 'n strings etc. and I'll probably keep my Bass Station for well eh bass. I just really want to get rid of the old and start over new with a compact(ish) setup thats easy and fun to use and will fit in a space of like 3 square meters. OMG, this is how it starts isn't it...
