He sat up to celebrate so early and I thought they were going to sprint past him.

I thought he'd messed it up and they;d do him on the line while celebrating.

He was working as GC rider and part of the Quickstep sprint train at the Tour. So how boring was that race? I called Bouhanni not holding the pace wrong, guy got 10th!

Martin's attack was pretty good I thought, and the four man (well 3.5) breakaway with De Marchi and Kiryienka was better than it should have been. Kwiatkowski's attack was obviously also quite exciting. AND a Spaniard didn't win, so high fives all around And yeah, Bouhanni and Degenkolb being so far up surprised me too, although Bouhanni already did that at that one Vuelta stage.

One minute all the Spain's were in the front bossing it and next they all died like Valverde's combover. I laughed.

The course was bad, the climbs werent hard enough to seperate the contenders from their teams until the very last lap. They either needed to be steeper, or longer. Poor course.

The Americans will need to get their poo poo together before next year in Richmond. They were completely invisible today. I'm looking forward to heckling Froome in person.

I understand why they do the lap thing, but a long stage would offer a lot more variety and opportunity for terrain variation. Or do the whole thing on cobbles.

Brent BOOKWALTER, (USA), at :07 I agree that the course seemed a little short, and lacked the punchy climbs of previous years. However, I think the weather always played a big role in keeping the peloton together for nearly the entire race. Regardless, I am happy that Kwiatkowski won -- the move he made was perfectly executed.

Kwia ride: http://www.strava.com/activities/200661439 I didn't look too closely, but basically be able to push 4-600 watts for several minutes with 150 miles in your legs (and weigh less that 150).

Il Lombardia tomorrow, my favorite one day race. Would love to see Kwiatowski take the stripes to the line. I'm really digging what they did with the WCS colors on his bike, wish there was a bigger resolution pic: Russian Bear fucked around with this message at 18:40 on Oct 4, 2014 |
