Well the issue is the card doesn't cantrip and also locks up one of your mana dorks bouncing stuff when you still have to go off X number of reps.

I'm interested in the answer, and particularly, what rule causes it.

My guess for removal is that it's written up in the same format as the DCI Judge/practice tests which are technically confidential. They probably removed it due to an abundance of caution after getting legal threats for past leaks.

Actually, you would need to maintain card order. They are still technically the top 7 cards of your library and, as rule 101.4a states "If an effect has each player choose a card in a hidden zone, such as his or her hand or library, those cards may remain face down as they’'re chosen. However, each player must clearly indicate which face-down card he or she is choosing."

In addition, when you are searching your library (Dig Through Time doesn't search, but same principal) you must maintain card order. The only card it's relevant for is Panglacial Wurm, since you could pay for it with Chromatic Star or Deranged Assistant, which cares about the top card of your library at the time of casting.

Stratus Walk seems like the better answer to chump blockers, given that the only flying creature that would generally be staying back to block your guys is Mantis Rider (and you probably have more than one mana dork to attack with if you're actually going off).

Chromatic Sphere. Also a whole bunch of older eggs. Chromatic Star is the fixed one that doesn't have you drawing a card as part of a mana ability.

The modern Ascendancy deck is 100% going to get banned though. It's actually surprisingly resilient to hate due to the wishboard, and goes off surprisingly consistently. Basically, if you're taking the time to disrupt it you aren't killing them, which gives them time to tutor up their answers. They can even get fiery justice to kill multiple canonists.

When's the next B&R update? For some reason I'm thinking December, but I think they're closer to set releases now. It'd have to be crazy dominant to be emergency banned.

The next one is in January just after Fate Reforged releases I think.

I guess they could do one after Commander 14 in November if they felt the need.

It's free to The Rock

Plus against a combo deck, disrupting them enough is essentially the same as killing them.

Topping your pump off with Barrage of Boulders might be the correct answer. Still think it's a bad deck.

It isn't vs this deck though. It doesn't need many cards to go off and can start right back up after getting disrupted just by cantripping for another ascendancy

???

Ok do you guys not get that you get infinite mana, and infinite untaps, with two dorks and 4 Ascendancies in play? So you go off, draw your deck, play all your Ascendencies, bounce an ascendancy an arbitrary amount of times, retraction helix all their guys with your extra untaps.

then you play all the mana dorks in your deck and twinflame them all. they're dead. chump blockers do not exist for this deck

That's the Modern version, not Standard. When's the next big Modern event, like a GP or PT? I figure we'll see a lot of Jeskai Ascendancy in the top 8.

You can kill it in response. Like Heroic, Prowess is a trigger that goes on the stack, and can be responded to before resolution.

Ok so in a related question, casting a spell with just a Bloodfire Expert out DOES NOT trigger Ferocious... Or does it...

The trigger for prowess goes before Ferocious spell checks that you have 4 power dude.

My prerelease gave me a drat amazing mardu pool (butcher, a couple ponyback brigade, a pile of removal) that I went 1-3 with because no matter how or how much I shuffled I could only ever get 2 land or 12. Infuriating to get turn 1 1-drop, turn 2 2-drop, turn 3+ HURRRRRRRRRRRR.

Every single rare in my release sealed deck was a three-color rare. I had nine non-basics including two trilands, so gently caress it, we're playing them all! :getin:

I went 3-1, only losing to a sweet Mardu aggro deck. I couldn't beat Sorin.

Trail of Mystery, Grim Haruspex, Crater's Claws, Mardu Ascendancy, Icy Blast. The problem wasn't that these are inherently bad cards, its that all of the cards around them were even worse and I somehow had no fixing in any colors of note.

I guess its my own fault for forgetting that Sealed is a bullshit packwars format.

So anyone running a pool about who the commander/planeswalkers will be in Commander 14? I know we know Teferi already, and I have my money on Jaya Ballard, Gerrard Capashen, Lim-Dûl, and Eladamri for the others. I mean, unless I've fallen behind the times and we know them already.

I basically only do sealed at pre-releases so I have months to forget how stupidly swingy a format it is. You really need both luck and skill for sealed. It's super fun when you open a good pool, but then you get the crappy pools where you can maybe grind out wins at first but you will just never beat a skilled player with an actually good pool.

It'd be cool if they had a whole cycle of planeswalker characters from stories before there were planeswalker cards to put them on. I'd love a Jaya walker. :swoon: Gerrard wasn't a walker though, right? I have only the vaguest knowledge of storylines from that era, but I didn't think he was.

They made sure to point out that Teferi was his old bad-rear end self, and that the reason he didn't have just "+1: Win the game" was that his card only represented how much he wanted to help you, not how powerful he is. That opens the door for basically anyone.

Gerrard, Lim-Dul and Eladamri already have legend cards and weren't planeswalkers. A Jaya planeswalker is possible.

Freyalise is basically a sure-thing for the Green 'walker and the black one is probably going to be either Leshrac or Tevesh Szat. My money's on Leshrac.

I thought the whole thing was that the 5 new guys are "previous legends that were not planeswalkers before but are being represented as such now." Then again, Teferi totally was, so what do I know?

Gerrard wasn't a walker, I think his type is just human warrior or something, but he is the end result of Urza's "build a better human" breeding experiments.
