I think in the Clone Wars cartoon there were plenty of British accents in the Republic mixed in with the New Zealander clones.

Besides, taking minor details from the movies as ultimate truth and expandinig upon it is what Star Wars is all about. Every weird-faced incidental character from the cantina and Jabba's palace has a back story, and Lucas got two movies and two sets of animated series out of a brief mention of there having been Clone Wars.

Same problem, people making the show didn't understand why the imperials had a British accent at the time. Lucas probably changed it to not represent nazi's because people young people wouldn't understand.

Who aside from Peter Cushing is a British bad guy in original Star Wars? It's an aesthetic for sure, but maybe the deliberate part is that all of the rebels sound southern-California American.

Obiwan and Anakin have patrician accents in episode 2. Palpatine takes patrician tendencies and makes them the mandated high culture of the empire.

I think "having a short musical number in your six minute preview" is a bit of a stretch to "revolving around music."

I thought it was pretty charming, it's a refreshing change from the "every character is a loving maniac" kind of ADD programming Cartoon Network has been trending toward the last few years.

You know, I kind of got a Little Bear vibe from it too, but it didn't make me want to go to sleep the way Little Bear does. It does seem to be going for a similar aesthetic though. I don't know about the "aimless" part though, it seemed like it needed some kind of context that that clip didn't provide.

I liked the band song at the end, but the tone of the show in general, and the other song earlier on, are bordering on insufferably pretentious IMO. I mean, it's not that bad, but at this point that aesthetic is way overplayed

The art style also definitely feels like "Adventure Time, BUT..." in a way that I don't know nearly enough about art criticism to actually describe.

Like if Stephen Universe was "Adventure Time, but anime", this is "Adventure Time, but English picture books".

Well Over the Garden Wall is a animated miniseries with apparently only 10 episodes so there is a little more to it than we've seen. But because its made by Patrick McHale and he's worked in FlapJack and the first five seasons of ADVENTURE TIME, including writing three STUPID INDIE SONGS FOR THAT SHOW than it must be objectively terrible.

Oh that's a relief. Everything about that completely out of context clip appeared to indicate a rather limited story so its nice to know that's the case.

The whole thing seemed boring in a way I can't describe.

The real trend I've been noticing is the use of cartoons to explore late-teens to early-adulthood angst through the medium of childhood whimsy and youthful innocence.
