The catalpa worms are swarming, as they usually do late summer. Worms eat the leaves, wasps eat the worms: I'm thinking I'm going to go out with my good camera tomorrow for some macro shots.

My main gripe with VSCO Android is that the camera it doesn't have the touch exposure feature (or any exposure feature for that matter) that the iOS version does. e: I stand corrected Subyng fucked around with this message at 23:45 on Aug 25, 2014 |

Guess they gotta intentionally gimp it so that Apple users who paid for it won't feel ripped off. quote:the vast majority of Android devices do not support spot metering, so VSCO was required to disable the two-finger split focus and metering tool in the camera section of the app. Also VSCO is priced exactly the same on iOS as it is on Android, as far as I know. Free to download, with IAP for more goodies.

huh, I could have sworn it was not free on iOS. Even if Android phones don't have spot metering capabilities a quick exposure compensation option would have been nice (something that pretty much every stock android camera app has).

Subyng posted:huh, I could have sworn it was not free on iOS. Neither my Samsung nor my Moto X stock camera has an EV setting, Google Camera is the only "stock" camera app with EV feature that I know of. Maybe Sony or HTC has it, I wouldn't know. AFAIK the stock iOS camera app also does not have a EV setting. The next version of Android give apps a lot more control.

AFAIK the only Android camera app that has exposure compensation is Camera FV-5 isn't it? I don't remember Vignette or CameraZoom having anything of the sort.

the kawaiiest posted:Old Levi's Commuter presets are back for a limited time on vscocam. Just nabbed 'em, thanks! Also how the hell do the VSCO presets take up so much memory, are they not just a file that has a saved preset that you could potentially achieve with the editing tools built into the app?

I just grabbed the Levi's stuff again and made sure to back up all three plus the two Hypebeast ones this time, and hopefully I'll be able to restore them to a different phone when I wipe or switch, assuming they're not customized to the device somehow. Each preset has a .def file and then 13 files with extensions .1 through .13. I would assume that these represent the different intensities of each filter than you can select, but then I'm not sure why there are 13 instead of 12. The .def is negligible in size, but each of the 13 other files for each preset clocks in around 60 kb. With how many different presets there are, it can add up quickly.

Panasonic apparently shoehorned that 20mp Sony 1" sensor in to a cell phone. 28mm f2.8 equivalent lens to boot. http://connect.dpreview.com/post/7107523787/panasonic-announces-lumix-dmc-cm1-smartphone-with-1-inch-sensor

The iOS 8 camera app has built in AE/AF lock, plus you can manually adjust the exposure with a slider before taking the photo. You can also change the exposure, highlights, shadows, black point, and a bunch of other settings in post. It's all non destructive too. Pretty rad.
