See, building custom cars is dumb because you're ALWAYS going to lose your rear end on it. At least with sports cars for example, you can return the car to stock and sell off the bolt on performance poo poo and at least make something back if not all of it. poo poo I've broke even before, just takes a bit of work. Custom cars are money toilets.

50K didn't even include proper pluralization. That's unfortunate. Most people who do it are doing it for their own enjoyment, and resale value is not a high priority, but like anything you can absolutely make money customizing cars. When the donk thing got popular I saw guys making good money buying some old Grandma-mobile, throwing a metallic Maaco job and 20's at it and flipping it at local meetups or on craigslist.

Aside from flipping the only way to make money in custom cars is to be the shop overcharging retards for work. The guys making dayton wire wheels have got to be laughing all the way to the bank. E: "swangas" can get you killed in Houston. http://m.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Car-rims-so-coveted-some-people-will-kill-for-1599663.php Anyone who applies the word "investment" to a car is a loving moron, an idiot with no money sense, or a stupid redneck trying to sound smart. kastein fucked around with this message at 02:19 on Oct 17, 2014 |

Again with the custom bullshit. Sorry, your car isn't worth what you put into it, suck it up and take the loss if you want to get rid of it, or just drive the loving abomination you made for yourself that no one else wants.

Hey, a shop will be happy to take your 157,000 dollars for as much work as you like on your car that's worth somewhere between 1/2 and 1/10 that much.

If you do end up buying that Datsun the first thing to do before even leaving his driveway is removing that abomination of a "roll hoop" he's got there. I bet it wouldn't withstand a stiff breeze let alone a roll-over.
