One of the coolest things about this game is that you can use the dodge button in the middle of certain cutscenes to start boss/miniboss fights with witch time. Like, there's no prompt, but I hit dodge by instinct and it actually changes the cutscene slightly. I only bring this up because I noticed ChipCheezum didn't do it in his playthrough of the demo.

I'm 90% sure the cutscene between the first fight and the first boss in the demo is one that lets you do that. I also vaguely remember doing it a few nights ago in Bayo 1 by accident.

The first one is in the prologue, when the big guy (Belief?) appears for the first time. During the cutscene, he slams his arm down and then slow-motion kicks in. You can dodge during then. The second one is when you fight the big guy before the first Masked Lumen fight. Same thing, the cutscene goes into slow-motion and you can dodge his opening attack. So now I hit dodge every time Bayonetta gets attacked during a cutscene just in case.

So, I noticed that some of the Tetsuzankos (<- -> + P) moves on some of the weapons didn't summon a wicked weave. I found a video that shows off what they're actually used for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgGbh97FU0Y You can use them to dodge and activate witch time and immediately start attacking an enemy. Pretty cool.

The Demon enemies are really brutal, I have a lot of trouble with them. I haven't cleared Witch Trial 3 yet, and most of my health loss is on verse 3 with the two giant enemies (Pain? I don't remember what they're called). I'm having a hard time just keeping track of where I am on the screen. I've gotten to Alraune a few times which I hope is the last fight for this trial.

Okay. Seriously though. Rodin advice? Nothing feels like it can possibly work. I have been at this for two days now. It is not funny anymore. By now I should be seeing reliable improvement, but it still feels like trying to roll a hundred twenties.

Last night, I lucked out, got, and beat Rodin on Tag Climax. And then I proceeded to get cocky, did a Three Star fight with that serpent boss, and proceeded to lose to it when he only had half a health bar left. It's been a while since i've wanted to throw my console out the window.

Use Rosa, Equip Moon of Mahaa Kalaa, and save your Umbran Climax for when he goes Devil Trigger. Learn his tells, do your best to react and hold attack buttons to hit him with bullets that do good damage. Good luck, my friend.

Bayonetta 1 is like an abusive spouse. It hurts me so much but I can't leave, I just keep begging for more abuse. Gah but I got Platinum on Chapter 1 on Hard Mode and that's...that's enough. That's enough for one lifetime.

As someone new to the series and Platinum games in general holy poo poo this game is crazy and never stops. When your tutorial bossfight is THAT crazy and the game keeps going up from there I just can't even. I just got to The first Lumen Sage fight and what the balls the SUMMONS FIGHTING IN THE BACKGROUND WHAT THE HELL SO FUCKIN COOL AAAAAAAAGH. Also holy hell I'm bad at this game. I think the main reason I'm getting such bad scores is I like to spam a good combo and keep it at that but you can't do that in this game because of how scoring works. Which is fine, I just have to adjust.

Just finished the story campaign. I have never hated a Platinum character the way I hated Loki. That little poo poo ruined everything he touched, up to and including the final boss fight. You literally accomplish nothing but get your rear end beat until he decides to pull his playing-card bullshit and save the day. There's no catharsis thanks to him! God, he's just the worst. Platinum put as much effort into making him insufferable as they did into making the combat fun, but I got so tired of being saddled with a chatty escort character over and over and over again.

Yeah I didn't really mind Loki that much. I think Bayonetta's interactions with Cereza were more fun, but Cereza also barely qualifies as a character. And I like how Bayonetta having a kid sidekick is used to show that despite how she acts toward angels, demons, and (usually) Enzo and how she tries to look publicly, she's really just a big old softie.

The problem with Loki is that he has probably the worst English accent I've ever heard. It's rancid

Has anyone here played both this and Shadows of Mordor? GCU is on sale at Best Buy this week if I buy a game with it and I was debating between these two.

honestly I thought the floating giant face dragon heads thing was way more difficult to dodge ^^^ I have both and I can tell you the combat is similar to but WAY loving BETTER than arkham combat. Buy this game.

Ragnarok the Red posted:Has anyone here played both this and Shadows of Mordor? GCU is on sale at Best Buy this week if I buy a game with it and I was debating between these two. Both games are fantastic. Shadow of Mordor is less difficult and more "gently caress around and have fun', while Bayonetta has way better core combat. Bayonetta comes with two games though so it's more bang for your buck,

Shadow of Mordor is really good too so I'd say it really does come down to how much you'll get out of them. Personally, I am just starting on my hard mode playthrough of Bayo 2, after which I'll probably run through Bayo 1 again to see the new stuff, then maybe try extra hard on Bayo 2, and that's not even including stuff like tag climax. I would say that's the main difference between the two. Shadow of Mordor doesn't really have a ton of replay value. Bayonetta 2 is really just a whole lot of game. Still, go with your gut. Both are 100% worth playing. PantsBandit fucked around with this message at 03:29 on Oct 29, 2014 |

I haven't played Shadows of Mordor yet, and I'm sure it's as great as everyone says it is, but it's a AAA title on all the other systems. More copies of it probably sold on launch day than Bayonetta 2 will in its entire run. I'd get Bayonetta 2 while you can at least find it. Shadows of Mordor will be cheap as poo poo in no time.

i haven't had a chance to run through infinite climax yet but am i correct in thinking its a gimmick difficulty that takes away witch time from dodges like non-stop in bayo 1? or is it just the very hard to 3rd climax's hard?
