She usually says it in her fundraising emails. Better subscribe to the Sarah Palin Channel, that's where she's going to announce first!

Jerry Manderbilt posted:Was there once an ask/tell thread where a goon who owns a pay for porn site said "yeah I'm sure that 90% of my income comes from people who forget that they're subscribed to my site"? This is probably because I'm youngish and poor so I have the technology and motivation to constantly aware of exactly what's in my bank account, but the idea of just being entirely oblivious to a recurring charge is baffling to me. Maybe if you share a bank account, it's easier to look at a charge or even notice a pattern and shrug? I guess anyone paying for porn probably is also the type who can't easily check their account statement online, though.

At this point does anyone really believe that she is running for any office other than her own "office," a repurposed rec room where fat rails of coke are lined up on a nightly basis

I sourced the above in the libertarian thread a couple of times, but hosed if I can find the study at the moment.

Josh Lyman posted:What exactly is so appealing about Sarah Palin vs any other conservative? Is it because she's attractive? Her initial appeal was her willingness to embrace right wing populism, but her looks didn't hurt. These days it's mostly because liberals had a strong reaction to her and it got remembered by conservatives as her sticking it to the libs.

Sarah Palin is basically the Conservative Id. Most of the folks in the GOP who spout off True Crazy on a regular basis don't get much higher than "Congressional backbencher" (most of the Governors are restrained in speech relative to the Bachmanns or Gohmerts), whereas Sarah Palin rose as high as VP nominee (or, if you prefer, Pretender to the title of Vice President since obviously Obummer only won by cheating or whatever).

Off topic question: Something I've been wondering for a while. If outsourcing is such a big problem, would it be a good idea to enact legislation making sure that all jobs are created within the U.S? What's the economic argument against doing such a thing?

There's effectively no way to do that without also getting rid of any trade from the outside world. Another thing a lot of people ignore is that most of those jobs that were shipped overseas are actually really terrible and no one wants to do them.

Toyota has a ton of manufacturing in the U.S. - under that legislation (as far as I can read it), they could not create more jobs for people in Japan. I suppose you could try to limit it to U.S. corporations, but be prepared for the Fortune 500 to go St. Patrick's Day Irish. (Basically you would destroy international trade as we know it.)
