I disagree. They're clearly thinking about the shows they're watching, they're just not drawing any conclusions from their thoughts that are meaningful outside "this happens sometimes". Their refusal to seriously or rigorously analyze the media they consume is a side effect of their site's obsession with collecting and pinning down story elements; they want to curate, not critique.

What meaningful conclusion could there be? It's art. It not like physics or engineering.

It's simple. The more tropes, the better it is. That's why intellectual stuff like Dark Eldar: Path of the Incubus or Sora no Otoshimono will always be better than boring stuff like Intruder in the Dust or Love in the Time of Cholera.

Geez. It's like when my Ms. Rehnquist wouldn't let me and my Nakama do the D&D Monster Manual for our book reports. So I gave her a Hannibal Lecture, and she sent me to the office. Now my step-mom says I'm grounded. Gawd, Pam, you're not my real mom!

I'm kind of surprised that TVTropes of all places is the first place you guys heard of NaNoWriMo from.

I'd heard of it when I was 13, and I'm 20 now so it predates TvTropes by quite a while I'd guess.

I clicked the 'random' button on TvTropes today, just to see what would happen. After 3 repeats of the main page, I got this 'charming' thing deposited onto my monitor. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FlirtyStepsiblings

quote:

Since the instinctive biological aversion to mating with a sibling or childhood friend is highly dependent on actually being raised in close proximity to said sibling/childhood friend, this can be Truth in Television for many 'siblings' whose parents married during or after their puberty, though they rarely end up becoming an official couple due to social factors.

So, how's that family-friendly thing going, hmm?

All censorship is bad and evil, and this includes omitting something purely for the purpose of good taste. I'm sure most Tropers would feel indignantly righteous if you told them not to wear an anime tshirt to a funeral.

And I'm pretty sure that "celebrating" is said with a wink and a nudge.
