Thanks guys. Will tweak the list later on this week - I think splitting up the squads is wise, and dropping the chimera in favour of the bunker. I was going to put the HWT inside the buildings, so they'd be protected, and rerolling 1s to hit, which mitigates their weaknesses.

Yeah, that is a pretty good use of them - you may want to go for lascannons rather than autocannons in my book, I have been disappointed with autocannons since the vehicle damage chart was changed for 7th ed, but that could just be me.

I'm kinda surprised and disappointed that there is barely any Elysians or Kriegers up on Ebay as I really want to paint a squad of the former but then I see the FW price for a squad of five and just go internally.

I could see it as a Campaign Box, that'd be pretty cool. I don't give a poo poo how they do it, I just want rules for Glotkin in Warhammer 40k, seriously that model is loving amazing and it neeeeeeds to be in 40k.

I have the FW cadian bits that look like anti-tank mines. One of the neat things about IG is sorting out your special weapons/heavy weapons/sgt loadouts etc in a a sensible way. EG I am at full stretch to field a toned list right now, but I have an actual plan of how many more riflemen, sergeants, alternate special weapons I need to be flexible, while still being able to field almost everything in some sort of orbat. Playing this game Space Marine, and it really nails to me what they should be like. Y'know how in most shooting games you sort of have to suspend disbelief that 1 soldier seems to be doing the entire war on his own? For space marines it is completely apt. And yet on the tabletop they are just ok, pretty elite, shooty infantry. The prevalence of things like artillery, plasma etc make them relatively fragile. I would love to have an army from one of the more knightly sort of chapters, but I just don't think the playstyle lives up to the image.

Sir Teabag posted:E2: Drop the Chimera on the CCS. Put them in a bunker. That should leave you enough points for 2-3 Priests and the Heirloom of Conquests that allows your orders to automatically succeed on a double. One priest with the conscripts to man the quadgun, one to go with Yarrick and the Flamer/Power Axe blob to make them an even nastier CC unit. That's actually really bad advice-orders can't be issued when the ordering unit is embarked on a transport* or in a building, so you'd effectively be neutering the effectiveness of the squad, unless you're planning on leaving them exposed on top of the battlements. *The Chimera is an exception to this, as it has a special rule that allows orders to be issued out of it.

It'll be cool if the battle is taking place on that planet where the Blood Angels and Necrons form an uneasy alliance, and we also get the Silent King as a splash release.

Basically this is how you get me to buy extra armies. Go go loving tyrannids!

The blood angels are all normal space marines with blood angel transfers. The only specialist stuff are the Sanguine Guard/Death Company, and those kits come with enough bits to spread out over your normal guys to Angel them up.

If a Chapter Master goes to war, he doesn't necessarily need two hundred battle-brothers crammed into 1.5 hectars like on the front of a BL book. We don't generally use models for supply trains and drop ships, so if I'm playing Guard I don't feel weird about having Major Soandso show up with just a few platoons and a tank squadron from a completely different regiment. That may be the most succinct and elegant explanation for a neckbeardy thing I have ever read.

I think I painted them before Retribution came out, but the way they worked in that game was super cool and exactly how I'd like them to work. Space Marine gave you a great sense of scale for the universe too, which you don't always quite get the grasp of when you're looking at it from the god's eye view you get in the tabletop and DoW games. If Space Marines played like they did in the fluff, you'd rarely see more than a Tactical squad or two. I don't mind the fluff disparity. It's oath crosspost time I like the style these Warp Spiders are in, I really do, but the left arm and really the whole left torso is just one big mass of mushy resin, not to mention I couldn't get them to fit inside a 20mm base. They desperately need a new plastic sculpt. Also I used the vallejo water effects gel and the bottom of a test tube to make a bubble of ice around them, like they'd just teleported in. I think it turned out pretty close to what I had in my head.

If you want smooth coats over large surfaces it's really down to airbrushing or using colored primers. Most of my vehicles have been in a grittier scheme, but I don't think I could have done my bright and colorful Ultramarines vehicles without Army Painter's colored sprays.
