I wear them both out. Hey Hey What Can I Do is an awesome song, and that 7" is one of the only ways to get it on vinyl. There's a 7" picture disc that it is on, and it's on a various artists album. I only know about these other 2 because of wiki.
Hey Hey What Can I Do was never released on a Led Zeppelin album.

Does your copy have the Allister Crowley quote in the dead wax?

Reissue. Design-wise it looks like this, but the color is mustard-yellow instead of red, and it says "GOLD STANDARD" above the 45 RPM. No Allister Crowley quote.

Hey, Hey What Can I Do is one of my all-time favorite Zepp songs, so I'm pretty stoked to get it on vinyl. Probably my other favorites in that pile were the Ramones singles, too.

Sky Burial is an incredible album. I still need to get it on vinyl. The Cavern is one long, 45 minute song. They wrote it and played parts it live while touring like 4-5 years ago, but never recorded it, until someone at Relapse got wind of it and got them to record the thing.

I didn't read your whole post at first and thought they made it a picture disc so both sides could have the exact same splatter pattern. That would actually be pretty cool.

That would've been a pretty cool pattern. The only other color they had, as far as I know, is a light green, and that sold out quick.

Has anybody found any good record/record player a/v furniture?

I'm looking for something that can hold receiver, turntable & records along the lines of this:

or this:

but ideally something slightly more reasonably priced than the second.

Anybody have a good solution that would look good in a mid-century decorated living room? (Ikea, while perfect for other rooms of our house wouldn't make sense in this room)

This is my current setup (pardon the ugly photo):

The table is an old end table that I was given that is unbelievably sturdy; it has to be to hold this beast of a turntable. I'd have records on the shelf, but it's not quite tall enough to hold them.

Something like this could found at nearly any thrift store and usually for around $20.

I turned up several sites that sell them with one google search. Look for 12" generic jacket. Amazon has them.

Not exactly rocket science.

Not sure if this is the right thread to ask this in, but I know next to nothing about turntables and need some advice. I'm using a JVC L-A21 from the early 80s which I'm reading isn't anything stellar, but it was a hand-me-down so I can't argue with the price. I'm worried that the stylus/cartridge (SIGNET by Audio Technica HITec 103) is from that era too, and it might need to be replaced. Can I swing by the record shop and pick up any new stylus/cartridge (if so I'd love some recommendations), or would I need to track down a specific one to fit my headshell? Maybe I just need to track down a needle that fits my current cartridge? Thanks in advance!

I somehow missed this news, but Devo is releasing another early live album on a small label in a couple weeks. This time it's a 1977 Eagle Street Saloon show, which I would say is possibly the best and most interesting bootlegs circulating for fans of their early work. It's only a couple months before their Max's Kansas City shows that they put our in RSD, but their setlist changed a lot in that time. There's a handful of songs that never appeared on albums, and then really weird stuff like Polyvinyl Chloride.

At least I assume it's the same 05/28/77 show that's been circulating for years. Devo did play a few other shows there in '77. There's no tracklist yet and they didn't say the exact date or source of the recordings. They released a sample from the album and it does sound a bit clearer than the bootleg, but I bet they just remastered the same source. I'll have to check against my copy when I get home.

I don't see any way to pre-order, but it's available 11/17.

I just passed up a pile of Capacitance Electronic Discs, an old video format that's basically a vinyl record in a cartridge. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitance_Electronic_Disc

They were so cheap I might have to go back and pick one up for the novelty even though I'll never be able to play it. They had the Changeling and Missing in Action 2. Maybe I'll just crack one open and see how it sounds on the turntable.

I think the grooves are too narrow and shallow to carry even a half mil stylus, worth a shot though.

Of course with no groove modulation even if you got it to track you wouldn't hear anything.

For some reason, the vinyl versions of Aphex Twin's "Syro" and "You're Dead!" by Flying Lotus are both available on Amazon for $10.48 and $12.23, respectively. "You're Dead!" is out of stock, but is still at that price under additional sellers. No idea what's going on with those prices, but hey, you can get a 3LP and a 2LP, both printed in 2014, for less than $25 total.
