If anything, everyone dying like this over the course of a bunch of updates and a huge flash are making the case for why John can't or won't just fix everything with his magic bullshit powers - at least, not for a good long while, this is quite a lot of time and energy to put into showing off a dead end if the only narrative purpose it'll serve is John will figure out how to stop it. Surprised Rose's death counted as Heroic. Godtier revival seems pretty crap, all things told. How many revivals have we even seen? And goddamnit John, stop being a goober and standing there with your thumb up your rear end! One of your close friends just died and there's a grieving girl right there! Say something! Emote a little, damnit! You don't even have the excuse of being immediately shanked by Bec Noir this time.

Don't get me wrong, I like rose, but she's obviously still going to a part of the story and she can easily meet up with Kanaya in a dreambubble so this whole thing feels more like a setup for a future plot line rather then something I should cry about. I'm interested to see where the story is going, but it's hard to get emotionally invested in death scenes when a guy with magic plot changing powers is standing right next to the corpse

God Tier resurrection seems to only keep you safe if you're being passive. It'll protect you against random assholes stabbing you in the heart when you're just minding your own business, or falling down a cliff while aimlessly wandering around, but if you're trying to do something big, whether it's good or bad, your death will stick. It seems less about actual heroism/justice and more "was it really dramatic y/n". John got revived after taking a swing at jack because he immediately died like a chump and it wasn't cool at all.

This is hardly the first time John's shown a weird lack of emotional reaction to something traumatic happening right in front of him, but I think this might be the first time where there's someone else there just completely losing their poo poo. It might be interesting to see how John deals with Roxy's breakdown, assuming he's not about to blip out - somehow I don't think "oh geeze that sucks" is going to cut it. Remember when John appeared to himself earlier and told himself to go meet Roxy already? We haven't seen John do that yet, how's that going to fit into what's happening, I wonder? Does it suggest this timeline isn't just some doomed one John erases with his retcon power?

Maybe it only feels like a lot of time spent on a pointless beta timeline because we've been getting updates sporadically, and seeing the whole thing together doesn't feel so long? I find that people have different impressions of the lenght of the story depending on wheter they read the whole thing in one sitting or not.
