You can get running, driving cars from the 40s down here in CA for that kind of money, all day long. Even have a decent coat of paint and ok upholstery.

Road trip?

(Unless this particular model is worth so much, I'm not familiar with it.)

Its definitely an econobox by its very nature and marketing but that doesnt mean it cant be fun!

This was a time when a european economy car had an 850-1300cc engine. The capri was developed because ford's european branch was sore about not having a mustang equivalent, by marketing it was "the car you always promised yourself" and "it goes like lightning". What is it about having one of the biggest engines on the market, poo poo fuel economy and almost no practical use beyond racing on the M25 that screams "econobox" to you?

I guess Im coming from an American stand point because this describes just about every car made in the 60s-70s to me.

The capri is an eco-box because it is a Ford Cortina with a different body.

This isn't an american car and the Cortina wasn't an econobox either. European economy cars were things like the reliant kitten.

The Capri was always the closest thing to a muscle car we had, barring the V8 rovers, and those had four doors.

I like the idea that removing the interior suddenly transforms a 30 year old economy car from "dismal deathtrap commuter with worn out bushings" to "partially set up [...] autocross car."

RAAAAARGH!!!! GIFT CARDS ARE FUCKING RETARDED!!!!

(I need a hug)
I always do a double-take when I see a chrysler colt or starion, but then I remember what happened in Australia.
Chrysler had a factory here until about 1980, making big chryslers and valiants, but near the end, mitsubishi galants and sigmas were popping up under the chrysler name here too.

By the time Mitsubshi went FWD, chrysler packed up and went home, Mitsubishi took over the factory and started building the magna here, and importing that colt and the newer galants, lancers and mirages.
Chrysler disappeared for a long time here (except jeeps), first cars they came back with was the neon, pt cruiser and voyager van in 1997, so they buggered off for over 10 years and came back with absolute trash.

Most people would wish they stayed away, except for the 300c and voyager (no one else makes a half decent van any more so w/e), no one is a fan of their other cars/cuv/suvs or the dodge line up (e: which is just the Dodge Caravan, Calibre and Journey, nothing good like in the USA, not even a single truck ;) ).

Wow, if the chasis isn't rust to poo poo, that is pretty sweet. '34 Airflows aren't common at all. The missing flat glass can be easily replaced. Too bad it isn't a coupe. Those can run $75K plus when restored.

I'm not sure what you want him to say.

We had 400 plus hp family cars. Heck, were getting back into the 300's for a number of models today.

The Capri was essentially a low to mid market economy car for the US.

Up for auction is my 1987 Yugo Gv. Its a pretty clean little Hot Rod with some rust but still very solid. Its now rear wheel drive and has nothing in the front under the hood except for the radiator and fan.
Its got a 1995 Arctic Cat Thundercat 900cc snowmobile engine (180 horsepower) mated to a Franklin Quick Change rear end with a reverse rotation 4:56 ring and pinion and final driven at 8:50 gear. Power is transmitted thru a CVT Comet drive with a comet pro4 primary clutch and puck style secondary. This car does not have reverse...it pushed very easy. Both the engine and rearend are rebuilt with all new parts. It does run and drive but still needs a few things to finish it up like a permanent fuel cell and lights/turn signals wired. This car is crazy fast and I would bet it would do mid to high 11's with no problem. Im moving and cant afford to ship my YUGO across the country!
Let me know if ya got any questions or text (419)552-1681 my name is Brent

Last auction winner was not prepared to buy so its back up for auction. It was being sold locally for $2500.00 but now its a NO RESERVE auction.

Being sold for a friend, a craigslist ad referring to itself as an auction and (claims to be) a suspiciously fantastic deal due to circumstance? This trips all kinds of scam warnings in my head.
