How much damage should a level 54 braver who is optimally equipped be doing per normal katana attack, anyway? It's really hard to judge just looking at other people playing in co-op.

edit: I think I asked before, but is there any kind of damage simulator page that anyone has made? Or is PSO2's damage model just too complicated for that?

There's a japanese one if you can navigate it. http://4rt.info/psod/ dunno how accurate it is though.

According to this, the penalty to damage clustering for extending rare weapons goes away after extend level 9. Is that for real?

I'm not sure how practical it would be though, since it would be so ridiculously expensive.

edit: me with my katana right now looks more or less like this, which does seem to be reflecting how much damage I do per normal hit.

For comparison, a high rarity un-extended weapon with the same attack power (not that I have one or could equip one) would be like this:

I believe they recently reduced the penalty for extensions that require silva materials. And if you're gonna extend a weapon for long term use going all the way would probably be best.

Though obviously there's a point where you should probably stop crafting yourself and just get someone else to do it for you.

Well, I've been doing the daily crafts basically every day so my character is pretty good at it now. Given that, is there a reason why I would want someone else to do it instead? Surely it wouldn't be cheaper to ask someone else to do it rather than myself.

The English patch is perfectly playable if you're fine with having things not required for the gameplay experience untranslated. Things that would obstruct your ability to play, like menu navigation and quest directives are translated, but stuff like throwaway NPC text and quest flavor text may not be. New features that get introduced into the game typically take a few days to weeks to get translated, but just ask people in the know how to navigate those.

You can get past the IP block using:

Eventually you have to do high level crafts over and over to unlock the highest levels and those are several hundred-thousand meseta per craft. It gets expensive very fast.

drat, I got in trouble with my team. At some point the login announcement "only use team points to grow the photon tree" turned into "don't use team points without authorization" and I didn't notice. As I was apologizing to my teammates, I started to think that this is felt uncomfortably similar to screwing up at work.

Yeah, I immediately went out and did all I could, but I misused 5000 points and could only make about 1200 back. I guess all the rest I can do is just joining other team members in quests?

Until now, I didn't really understand team functions very well in general. When I started playing I joined some team that looked big and powerful, but it turns out almost all the managers had been asleep at the switch for some time, and everyone was just doing their own thing. One of them broke off and formed a new team (which I joined), and all members of the previous team were given manager status automatically. I guess I shouldn't have done anything with it until I knew what was going on. I'm sure this is all general MMO stuff but this is my first experience with such things.

Yeah, I finished my gunslash last night: ex 12 :toot: Crafted it myself up to lvl 6, then searched for crafters through the Visiboard after.

I figure, to fully craft a 7-9* at least, to run about 1.5 to 2 million. Final price is really dependent on how much materials you have on hand.
Silvania is p cheap, though. And you only need about 40 to go from 9 to 12.

Still, the final result is nice. What started as a crappy, but cool looking weapon is something that's comparable to a high end 11* or even Celesta Laser. Shame it has no potential, though.

Is there any way to update the game without using the tweaker or the official launcher? I had to redownload the entire game recently so now I need to update it from there, but the tweaker keeps making GBS threads itself once it gets to around 3gb, and updating using the official launcher seems like it would take months to download due to having to use a vpn.

No. Also, updating through the launcher isn't that bad. It's actually fairly viable and you only need the VPN to access the servers. When it begins downloading you would be able to kill the VPN and continue on downloading.

Is there any way to configure Pingzapper to work for the launcher too? In its options it has a thing to put in the launcher, but that doesn't work.

I believe on the Tweaker website there's a torrent link to a setup file. The game will update from that once you have the tweaker installed, too.

Yeah I haven't used it myself and it has no GUI, but this is an option too.

The guy who made this is also responsible for methods used for the item translation patch and the "new method" of installing the Story Patch, which boasts the ability to never need a "compatibility update" when the game updates.

Also before anyone asks if this guy is alright he also worked on some of the "Tales of" translation patches with someone else here on SA, who when I asked vouched for him.

Today is the last day of the 10% grind and affix boosts, so try to get those last-minute +40s!

Since transferring affixes are going to be much easier in two weeks, it is better to just focus on expanding the slots of your favorite items since those odds should not be changing any time soon.

http://www.bumped.org/psublog/pso2-jp-ceremonial-update-2014/

The next two weeks involves the return of last year's coast limited quest in emergency quest form, the third ARKS GP, Theodore's dewman outfit, Neo Magashi and Neo Lou parts, and some other things maybe.

I'm not sure it was actually confirmed that the slot expansion rate caps would remain the same. It was confirmed that affix transfer caps would remain unchanged, at least when fusing them. The below image is all the proof we have that I'm aware of.

Details for the update have been posted:

Enemies in XH can drop items with the "Ultimate Buster"(current name) ability, which boosts damage to enemies in ultimate quests

The level cap goes up to 75, but instead of overflow EXP turning into EX cubes, they now give you a class-named EX cube; "These class based EXCubes are used to acquire skill point rewards from class trainer NPCs like Risa, Marlu, or Ohza." so either you can break the game horribly now by getting All of the Skill Points or there will be a low cap (maybe just give you 5 more sp like the COs), causing excess cubes to become worthless and start taking up to 8 inventory slots (one stack per class)

New PAs for Boots, Swords, Knuckles, Launchers, and Bows.

The new Tech Zandion is a Wind/Lightning hybrid tech; hybrid techs function like a photon blast, in that it is subpallet-only, and charges up over time by some means. Hybrid techs seem to be Force and Techer main-class only.

and more things like 7-9* items will no-longer bind on equip, currently bound items will not be unbound with this update though.

Blu Ringahdas are hard. At first I thought I was just imagining it, but I checked online and yeah, their rings get more hit points every time you destroy them. I was fighting one in a story mission in episode 2 and dying over and over again since I can't call in anyone else and all I have is Matoi backing me up.

...and then I discovered that the door behind it was just sitting open, so I walked around it and finished the story mission.

Actually, I thought most players more or less ignored the story mode, and thus wouldn't have gotten this far into episode 2 (since unlike ep3 you can't start it without finishing 1...right?)

Recently the computer that I played PSO2es on died, and I was a dumbass who never saved the transfer code anywhere. I'm trying to fill out a ticket to recover it, but I have no idea what I should put in the section that asks for a description of the issue. Would there happen to be anyone who knows enough Japanese to say something like "I formatted my phone and forgot to save the transfer code" without making it sound too suspicious?

the units you can buy with excubes all have lucky rise I, which raises the item drop rate 5% (normal item drops, not rare item drops), and a few of them are just pretty gimmick ones with fancy visual effects. the gunslashes you can buy with photon spheres I belive have the "photon collect" affix, which if I recall boosts the affix rate of status effect affixes.

the rare boss triggers are pretty good, though yeah you may want to organize using yours alongside others to get more bosses out of your 5k coins.

also there are symbol art mats so you can line your entire floor with symbol arts of your choosing

Samurai Sanders posted:

yeah, the cube units are the only units with lucky rise on them; which I guess is alright if you are going for items with boss souls or grinders or maybe some AQ or XQ stones don't know if it works for those though... they also used to be some of the better units to have before Super Hard came out.
the photon collect gunslashes boost the sucess rate of fusing Status Effect abilities to increase them. aka Burn II + Burn II = Burn III.
I don't know what the 1-slot Power/tech/shoot III gunslashes or units are for; those abilities are often too much of a hassle to stick on that early.
and I REALLY don't have a clue about what the photon collect units are even for :psyduck:

Anyway, I hope the rewards for Casino stuff remain universally bad so I don't ever feel like I'm missing out by ignoring it. I kinda get the feeling it's intended as a way to keep people at net cafes in game and racking up hourly fees. Maybe that's cynical, but it'd hardly be the worst thing a F2P game has ever done.
