There are no hands in this picture, but I just finished the linework on this thing. Doing a thing inspired by China Mieville's The City & The City. Found Sound fucked around with this message at 21:44 on Nov 4, 2014 |

Hands are technically visible, so I guess fits the theme! Been practicing copying some old woodcuts - There's something extremely interesting about how things were rendered back in the day. Of course, you've got masters like Durer who aspired to realism and kick tremendous amounts of rear end, but in other works the bizarre abstractions in the attempts to replicate the appearance of familiar things is weird and fun to try to understand. Plus, just from an inking point of view they are tremendously useful. The line weight and where they choose to put their darks, and the balances between positive and negative space were masterful.

petrol blue posted:Looking awesome! Can we get a shot of the knight and skeleton by the fire? That one's adorable Sure, that one's an oldie but a goodie. Here's what I'm scratching out at the moment, still trying to figure out the best composition, then I'll have to come back and greatly simplify things once that's established, and there's lots of tweaking on just about everything that still needs doing, but overall am very happy with how it's progressing. Edit oh god there's so many problems with that sleeve I loving love/hate fabric. McKilligan fucked around with this message at 14:15 on Nov 7, 2014 |
