Nckdictator posted:I'm looking for some "So bad it's good" movies streaming on Netflix. What would you all advise? I don't if it's still on netflix and I'd hesitate to call it bad but Karate-Robo Zabrogar is possibly the most entertaining thing I have ever watched and possibly more Japanese than Japan . It is every single anime trope condescended into one relatively short live action film. Giant robots?Check. Evil villains in a flying castle where they build giant robots? Check. Robot sidekick who knows karate and transforms into a motor cycle? Check. Forbidden romance that involves tentacles at some point? Check. Robot samurai assassin that is a giant pair of lips? Check. All of this is merely the tip of the iceberg. The movie is so crazy and over the top that it's like a super massive star collapsing into a blackhole of crazy poo poo that you can't not watch.

I'm fairly certain it is still up, but Revolt may fit the bill. It has a mostly Iranian cast iirc and a few unknown Americans. It also has a narrator that sounds like he was recording a track for a filmstrip from the 60s-70s. At times, it's like they spliced together a bunch of stock footage and filmed some extra footage of their actors so it has some sort of a plot. One other odd thing is that it has a release date of 1986, but the clothing, hair and cars say '78-ish.

Also a lot of the Bollywood stuff probably fits into the "terrible but fun" category. They're ridiculously over the top, usually have spontaneous choreographed song and dance numbers mid-movie, and the protagonists are always these absurd ultra-masculine douchebags with porn star mustaches. I don't personally enjoy watching them because they seem to be, as a whole, absurdly misogynistic. I wish I could remember the cop drama I watched where the guy was just rolling around grabbing random chicks and making out with them and then their knees would buckle and he'd tell them to go make him a cuppa while the men went about their real business.. It's an acquired taste I guess. edit: for a legit great Indian film, I recommend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paan_Singh_Tomar_(film). It was on instant for a while but I think it's down now. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1620933/ coyo7e fucked around with this message at 20:07 on Nov 11, 2014 |

Gunday from this year is pretty good, if only for the running gag of the characters breaking wooden chairs over one another, reaching its ultimate punch line when they're fighting in a mine and a mine cart literally just appears out of nowhere with a wooden chair in it.

Nckdictator posted:I'm looking for some "So bad it's good" movies streaming on Netflix. What would you all advise? Watch Machete Maidens Unleashed, which is one of my favorite fun documentaries. It will give you plenty of ideas of what to watch. Switchblade Sisters is great. Act of Vengeance is fun. Big Doll House, Big Bird Cage (pretty much anything with Jack Hill's name attached). Eat My Dust, Grand Theft Auto are great Corman movies. Invasion of the Bee Girls is fun. Barbarella is a classic. The Stuff and C.H.U.D. are goon favorites. Then you have Troma movies: Toxic Avenger, Surf Nazis Must Die, Cannibal! The Musical, Tromeo & Juliet (written by Guardians of the Galaxy's director James Gunn), Class of Nuke 'Em High, Sgt. Kubukiman NYPD., Poultrygeist Nude Nuns With Big Guns is a terrible, hateful movie. I never knew a movie that could take such a great and fun concept and me feel so bad for watching it.

HUNDU THE BEAST GOD posted:Yeah, no poo poo. And I like Franco! I can't imagine what it'd be like for someone who liked him even slightly less than I do. I want you to try it again, but imagine that it's the sequel to Jackass Number Two. It's actually a really, really blackly funny movie. Basically Mathews' imagining of the decadent queer sexual liberation of the '80s is the Rectum scene from Irreversible. It's a wholly unintentional, but wholly remarkable look into the queer fetishism of Franco as a straight male, as a kind of intellectualized expansion on how 'homoerotic' behavior of the Jackass crew, where, like, sexual humiliation is a key form of social bonding.
