From Hell getting a tv show.

FX is developing From Hell, a drama series based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell, which was adapted into the 2001 20th Century Fox feature starring Johnny Depp and Robbie Coltrane. Don Murphy, who produced the film, is executive producing the mini. Because of the graphic book’s length, I hear Murphy always envisioned it as a TV series. When the current resurgence of event series started, Murphy thought that would be a great way to handle the material properly, giving the story time to play out and doing it justice.

David Arata (Children of Men) will write the adaptation.

Entertainment Weekly has an interview with "Gotham" showrunner Bruno Heller where the writer reveals that he does indeed have plans for Batman's teenage sidekick Robin -- even if the Caped Crusader is still a preteen.

"We're going to do a prenatal origin story for Robin down the line," said Heller. "There are no MRIs involved. There's an episode coming up where we learn how Robin's parents got together."

Robin's parents are circus performers so you can still actually kind of get a story there.

Yeah. Have the Court of Owls and Black Glove and Bruce reading about a vigilante in a suit of armour in England while at private school and the librarian is Bookworm from the 60s show (literally the best part of Gotham Academy #2, and I didn't even dislike that issue). Right now the show's in that weird place that usually gets reserved for Ryan Murphy shows, where half the production team wants it to be dark and gritty and disturbing, and half wants it to be high camp.

Deadline saying that Marvel has started testing actresses for Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Cage is designed to appear in 6-7 episodes of Jessica Jones and then have his own series.

Jessica Jones - Krysten Ritter, Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer and Jessica De Gouw.

Luke Cage -Lance Gross (Crisis) and Mike Colter (The Good Wife/The Following).

I'm not familiar with Mike Colter but I liked Lance Gross quite a bit in Crisis. He didn't much to work with because the show was really wacky, but he was good in it.

I kind of hope de Gouw already being the Huntress makes her a longer shot (pun... kinda intended), because she's bad enough on Arrow, I really dread to see her trying to carry a show while straining to hide her accent.

With the exception of Alexandra Daddario none of them are really a great choice and Marvel are usually good with their casting. De Gouw is a bad actress but Ritter is all levels of wrong casting for Jessica.

Yeah I'd rather Brooklyn Nine-Nine be left alone given that it's a great show but Crews is like Downey Jr as Iron Man levels of perfect casting.

I could see Ritter taking it as a challenge, as it's kind of against her normal screen persona. Evans was mostly known as a comedy douche with occasional prestige character parts before he took Captain America, so I'm open to being surprised in that sense. No clue about the third name, never seen her in anything. Daddario is probably the best choice of the four, based off her past work's fit with the part, though.

Alias is a unique book to me because it was the first "adult" comic I ever read, so I'm really looking forward to it. I kind of always pictured Jessica as older , more broken down. I feel like all those actresses are too young.

I am glad to see that Luke Cage is going to be in the Jessica Jones series, he's completely integral to that story.

They kinda went back on that even in the book. Partly because the original series' whole theme is recovery. The final story is literally a woman declaring that her rapist has no power over her before beating the poo poo out of him. But if you compare how Gaydos draws her in the first couple of issues, to how she's depicted later, they clear pare back and she's more conventionally attractive later. Not super-model/movie-star/porn-if-you're-Greg-Land hot as most superhero ladies are, but prettier than average.

Plus the whole 'she went to school with Spider-Man (and Silk, I guess)' thing pegs her as Peter's age.

gently caress, this week's SHIELD was amazing. Every single plot point of this season just converged like a motherfucker and I can't remember the last time I watched any episode of a TV show that moved at such a rapid pace without ever losing steam. Every scene was on loving point, except for maybe the one with Bobbi/Hunter. Also Ward is seriously incredible.

To make sure that everyone knows what their connection to Batman is, they'll be renamed from John and Mary to Robin and Robin. Gordon will find out that they've been stealing from Tony Zucco to give back to the poor of Gotham, and he tells them they're like modern Robin Hoods, to which the mom replies "Robin... such a nice name."

I quite liked Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold. The rest were pretty disposable, though bomb lady wasn't the villain...General Eiling was, and he was fine.

In other words the two, Cold and Eiling, you'd most expect to see again? They were played by decent actors. The rest? Disposable.

Clancy Brown did a good job as Eiling, but I never really considered him as arch villain status while watching. But I can't agree on Cold at all, that guy was terrible! All his lines were so wooden and robotic, I honestly thought they were ADR when he first showed up.

Maybe it's because I liked the guy on Prison Break, but I thought he was cold and calculating with subtle emotional swings...like the bit with the kid and the gum...that showed there was more going on beneath the surface. It worked for me.
