I haven't got any, and it did require doing the neck separately so between that and the lack of tracking events I think they probably just marked it as sent to get around the auto-cancellation for shipping items too slowly or something. I'd usually be worried but reputable seller etc etc.

Bare in mind that this is straight off the bandsaw without any cleaning up or anything.

Next to a lovely plywood "Baldwin Student Range by Gibson" SG Body for a size comparison;

Here is the cheap-rear end neck I'm going to use (came in a job lot of stuff I brought a long, long time ago);

Is that ok? This is a community project (lol) so I need input!

For my mind I think the cutaway on the treble size needs to be a bit bigger, although that might comprise the surfboard shape a little. Is the dickhole too subtle/in the wrong place?? Stupid spikey bits too stupid/not stupid enough? I need to do something about the bottom too, I think.

I could put spikes on the treble cutaway spike easy enough, especially if I increase the cutaway. How much bigger should the dick-hole be? I think it could do with being moved to being more in line with the centre of the body.

Is there anything I've left off? I'm 100% I've forgotten loads of things about the body.

Also the pen on the spikey-side is a rough tracing of the first template.

Chinese knockoffs are drat good and hella cheap. Fender, Gibson, and Ibanez all have Chinese factories now so those same assemblers are making the knockoffs. You can get a slapped together Fender Strat for less than 100 bucks and with minimal setup it's more than suitable for performance. Those guitars go for about $200-250 stateside just because of the mark-up.

I like the couple of Chinese knockoffs I have, but you will need new pickups if you're thinking of applying any sort of overdrive. You have to factor that into the cost, they squeal too much to be usable. Apart from that, set em up with your own strings and it's good times....

Really? I'm surprised the build quality is that good. I was worried they would be using cheap metals for the hardware and that the necks may be a mess.

I pretty much factor in putting in new pickups to anything, since I'm cheap and if a guitar is built well, I can handle swapping out pickups, and GFS makes some awesome ones for good pricing.

Seriously thinking about that Jag now instead of a Strat. It's only $200.

Yeah the plate looks a little off, and the pickups look further spaced to me too. Also the two roller pots should be aligned instead of staggered, but eh, it is a knockoff.

Man I can't believe I forgot about him, he's absolutely perfect for this thread.

Eric DeVries I believe is an Australian "custom" luthier, known netwide for building the most hideously shoddy pieces of crap - his designs basically rip off BC Rich and Moser's less tasteful designs but they seem to be fashioned out of scrap wood and the absolute cheapest chinese hardware imaginable. He claims he's done custom builds for any number of pro guitarists, swears they will stand up to the best custom guitars in the world and gets downright abusive to anyone that claims otherwise. I can't seem to find any of his messages to people but rest assured he's an arrogant, irascible chud.

he also apparently posts all kinds of inappropriate poo poo on his facebook page including excerpts from a vampire porn novel he's working on :stare:

Anyway this all culminated in an Australian music store - after dealing with his poo poo on their forums for ages - buying one of his guitars and producing this amazing video (heads up there are like 12 friggin parts)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hepqjBaHA1s

I don't know a lot of backstory about the guy but in retrospect he must be mentally ill (although according to one guy on sevenstring "I've never seen anyone ... post or talk that much about drinking on their facebook page ever. So I'm taking into account the very real chance that this guy is inebriated 24/7, which would explain the shoddy workmanship and the lack of a stable mind when dealing with people.")

They come out of Guangzhou which is where the Fender factory is. The designs are all based off something. I see at least 6 different versions of that M65 so you may not even get the one pictured. The M65s are a bit over 100 bucks in China. Ibanez 7V is about 90 bucks, a three neck JEM is $300ish, a 2 neck is $200ish. A Strat is about 80 bucks if it's modeled after something(clapton, malmsteen, etc). EVH Frankenstrat is about 120. Looks like a BC RIch Beast is now available for 100. So, yeah, getting it stateside is going to run you about $200-250. Probably take a couple of weeks.

The strats I've picked up are playable right out of the box. There are some rough patches and some buzzy frets that can be fixed up pretty quickly. The hardware is all sound at a glance. Taking the back off reveals some really cheap metal springs in the guts but..who loving cares??? The pickups are squealy stock pickups that pickup all kinds of outside sounds and feedback. If you don't have an NS-2 or something then you have to swap those. Nothing "good" about them and they certainly don't replace proper factory guitars if you already own one but they're good beginner guitars/just-need-something-to-goof-on guitars.

The only reason I dipped into that pool was I was overseas and wanted to get something I could just leave behind. It's a pleasant surprise that they were as playable as they were - everyone was shocked.

Emperion guitars basically looked set to be the European Rondo, offering Chinese-made guitars with a variety of options (and decent hardware - OFRs, Gotohs, Bareknuckles/Seymours etc). The prototypes they'd received were pretty decent quality and everything looked good on paper - preorders flooded in because the internet loves hype as you will know. Most of their designs were BC Rich/ESP inspired as they were going for the bedroom metal kid market.

Long story short, the first batch of guitars were severely delayed and Emperion had mismanaged their cash enough that they could only offer a few refunds. When the guitars finally turned up they were full of defects, evidence of shoddy workmanship and QC, and knockoff hardware and pickups instead of proper stuff. The specs also frequently differed from what the customers had ordered. Despite all this Emperion tried to deflect blame and refused refunds.

I'm just gunna dump some pics. We're not talking minor dings and paint flecks here, we're talking poo poo that should have never been allowed to leave the factory by anyone that wasn't pants on head retarded.

Huge ding under the nut touched up with white paint

And my two favourite guitar pictures ever:

"I don't really understand why the Floyd Rose cavity bother you that much. Maybe it is not symmetric and that's true, but we are talking about a part that is completely hidden, so I don't see it as a problem, considering the fact that it is perfectly useful for its purpose.Dents, scratches, swirl marks are the normal consequences of the glossy painting. The only way to solve this problem is to paint it as the Paul Reed Smith brand does with 1/1.2 millimeters of paint on the top. The only problem is that this technique kills completely the resonance and if it takes a hit completely crack the paint.
As far as the completely different shape you are talking about : first of all is not completely different, but just a little bit, and this does not anyway compromise the access to any of the frets on the neck.
Finally it seems clear to me when you talk me about the problems you had touching the tremolo, or that the shipment creates some difference in the set up or that the strings are brand new and so you need to stretch them a little bit to maintain the tuning.
Anyway this does not depend on the guitar. This, as I said, is not something we can accept to refund you the money."
