They say the definition of insanity is to try the same thing over and over and expect different results, but Caliborn would say 'gently caress that, clearly I'm just not doing it good enough.' He's resourceful to a small degree in terms of perfecting the specific brute-force methods he uses, I suppose. It's a lot like the way humans evolved to use persistence hunting, where you track an animal for hours or even days non-stop until it collapses from exhaustion or drops dead from it's heart giving out. Caliborn hounds whatever problem is in front of him until it's ground away into nothingness.

He's resourceful to a small degree in terms of perfecting the specific brute-force methods he uses, I suppose. But that’s not how Caliborn operates at all; He’s extremely stubborn about his end goals, but he’s willing to take advice on how to achieve those end goals. If he can’t think of another way to do something (which is often, because thinking of new things is hard for him) he’ll keep doing the same thing over and over again, but the second an easier or more effective method presents itself he’ll switch to that right away. Here’s an example: Caliborn wanted Dirk to draw him some porn. Dirk can’t draw Caliborn any porn because he’s busy fighting robots. Despite the obvious impossibility of his request Caliborn continues to pester Dirk demanding porn. Eventually the Auto-responder gets fed up with Caliborn’s badgering and tells him to go bother Dirk at a different point in time. Caliborn agrees that this is a good idea and goes and bothers Dirk at a different point in time (with sexy results: http://www.mspaintadventures.com/storyfiles/hs2/scraps/smuut2.gif) His end goals didn’t change (Bother Dirk, get porn), but his method for achieving those goals did.

Well that's not really him figuring out a new strategy, that's still him waiting for the universe to concede, either by giving him what he wants, or by giving him an easier alternative. Caliborn would never nave thought to pester Dirk at a different point in time, the Auto Responder did. He'll try new things (if he can be convinced that he'll have a more productive time with them), but he isn't resourceful about coming up with them.

Well, what about the time he saw Jack kill Jane in the alpha session and realized he could use Jack to kill his sister in the same way in his session? What I'm trying to say is this: Caliborn isn't good at coming up with ideas (at all), but he's able to observe events and figure out how to copy those events in a way that's beneficial to him. His plans and schemes are all cobbled together pieces of seemingly disconnected ideas he's taken from many different sources which he then mashes together to make a complete picture. Like a circle made of angles, or a prom dress made of carpet lint. I'd say that counts as resourceful.

He's resourceful in that he does whatever is necessary to make his original awful idea actually work. He never deviates from his original idea at all. Like he decides the only way to draw is through right angles and when he gets to curves instead of learning to draw a new way, he just decides to overcomplicate things and make a curved line out of thousands of small rights angles. Sure he succeeds and used his original idea in a unique way, he never actually tried to do something different from what he first considered.

Caliborn seems willing to grow, but unwilling to change. He wants to become stronger, but he's completely unwilling to give up any of the weaknesses that are holding him back or to admit that he has any faults.
