That's really not a bad assessment. I do dislike Hamilton, but can admit he is/was the better driver. I'd say Alonso, and then Hamilton are my choice for #1 and #2 drivers currently in the sport. Hamilton's aggressiveness can get him into trouble, but it is also what puts him at the front of the pack most of the time. I also just wanted to make a mention of how lovely it was of McLaren to leave their drivers up in the air so late in the season. I wish Jenson had been able to say "OK, gently caress you Ron" and signed with any other relatively competitive team.

I'd really like to see Button stay in, but I don't know where else he could go if McLaren decide to go with Magnussen. Williams, Ferrari and Red Bull have already announced their lineups, and I can't see him going to one of the backmarker teams.

Lewis retired three times due to issues with his car, it just so happened that one of those times the issues were caused by being run into by Nico. Nico also only retired twice, though I supposed finishing in 14th might as well be considered "race ending", even if it technically isn't.

He basically made clear that he only wants to drive for a winning team and will retire if McLaren don't renew his contract. I'm not his biggest fan but it's totally bullshit and unprofessional how McLaren are treating him and K-Mag over this.

I read somewhere that Porsche were going to run a 3rd wec car next year so The Buttman could slot right into that. McLaren are clearly sandbagging to hide the fact that Honda have been doing secret tests all year at their private test track with a top secret chassis McLaren shipped to them in unmarked crates - The worst off season thread 2013.

My hope as an Alonso fan is that Ron and Fernando have decided to put aside their differences to win and next year they run the most devious, underhanded, and unsporting team in the history of F1. Basically Alonso makes his helmet look like Dick Dastardly's hat and Ron just laughs like Muttly whenever they cut to him on the world feed.

It was race ending even if he didn't actually retire. And remember the team wanted him to park. But being in an accident is not reliability. The Lewis had worse reliability myth is bewildering at best. If you believe that he should have got his car to the finish in Canada as Nico did with the same issue they both had three failures. And Lewis was arguably lucky his occurred at a point he could still, brilliantly in both cases, save the weekend. Dudley fucked around with this message at 23:23 on Nov 26, 2014 |

I don't get this... his car stopped in Australia, his brakes failed in Canada, and Nico side-swiped him in Belgium. So that's three retirements to match the 3 that Rosberg had in the season. Then on top of that Hamilton had the two qualifying issues. I don't think it's unfair to say that Lewis had the worse luck this year. I've no idea why you're giving credit to Rosberg for Canada or Belgium. It's not as if he knew what he was doing either time.

For me its hardly an amazing feat that Hamilton beat Rosberg. In fact I think it reflects pretty poorly on Hamilton on how close Rosberg was able to run him. When has Nico ever been considered top tier? That's what makes Ricciardo and Alonso's seasons more impressive to me. Both totally smashed world class team mates.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but time for something only tangentially related to F1: Aussie cricketer Phil Hughes passed away today as a result of complications with head trauma received during a match on Wednesday (a bouncer hit him at the base of his skull behind his ear). I'm a little shocked, I guess with Schumi and Jules somewhat surviving their incidents, I had hopes for Hughesy, if you've seen the footage though, it's pretty bleak and I suppose I took it for granted that he'd be "ok". Truly dreadful for the bowler.
