Balloonland was a joy. I just wish there was more insane sound stage stuff and less drunk parade narration (though it gets funnier as it all starts falling apart at the end).

ROTOR has quickly become a top 10 riff for me. A heavily padded, pants-on-head stupid action movie/Terminator knockoff is so incredibly rewatchable for me.

One thing I've noticed with their VOD's, the translated non-english films always fall flat for me. I've tried to get into Supersonic Man, Fist of Fury, Swamp of the Ravens, Beast of the Yellow Night (which was fairly interesting truth be told), or any of the Rene Cardona Sr. films (exception being the last 5 minutes of Zindy) but they act as an audio/visual sleeping aid. Not sure if it's the seriousness that makes them fall flat for me but the last couple hokie 80's horror/fantasy VOD's have all worked much better IMO.

I found the new way that gift cards work to be a bit confusing. The credit in your account is not automatically applied to an order. http://ideas.rifftrax.com/knowledgebase/articles/443991-how-do-i-use-my-gift-cards

Haven't watched Balloonland yet but I just finished the RiffTrax of R.O.T.O.R.

It was my first time watching that movie, and it was hilariously awful and the riff was a ton of fun. I loved how near the end of the movie, the producers forgot what the titular acronym stood for and just inserted a different word for one of the letters :v:

They've got the wrong R.O.T.O.R.!!!

Currently its the episode with Manos. Which I've always found difficult to watch through save for the short "Hired!".

And yay, the YouTube stream works on Chromecast. Last year was a pain in the rear end trying to get it to play on my TV

I think my favorite part of Fun in Balloon Land is the way they deliberately keep panning the camera to keep the black marching band offscreen.

Also I am dreading the writing process because the movie is literally so bad and confusing and utterly insane that there's not much we can say to make it funnier. I mean, it's so utterly incompetent and confusing that there's no baseline to make jokes about it, because it's like you're trapped in an alternate universe on an alien planet and you don't know what anything is.

I bet lowtax wrote the part about the narrator having a crush on her old mail man Stan. A man with a plan, whose hair she kept in an old coffee can. And that things like that were confessional of lowtax; and given as justifications for his eventual divorce.

George Lucas, I apologize. When I said you created the most offensive racial stereotypes in all of film I obviously hadn't seen Shooboogie in R.O.T.O.R.

So, I was watching Balloonland again when my daughter came in. A few choice reactions from her:

(after 2 minutes of the "Sea King" section)
"Daddy, why won't the boy wear a shirt?"

(after explaining that they're making fun of the movie because the balloons are creepy)
"I don't know, I don't think-"
(giant balloon-head Indians come in)
"...Now they're creepy."

(Scrooge balloon goes by)
"This is too creepy Daddy. I'm going to play Legos now."
