The best solution is to take the cover off and air out everything. But you probably dont want to do that til its out of warranty. Vita Cross play sorta worked. Had a few connection problems and it dropped out a lot, but the warning that it was going to drop out was enough to pause the game (why on earth it doesn't auto-pause on connection loss is beyond me). But one of the main reasons I wanted it was to play Dragon Age: Inquisition on it. The problem there is you attack in that game with R2, constantly. The Vita emulates L2/R2 and L3/R3 on the back touch pad, so it is basically impossible to play for me. Any way to switch the controls around? The game itself doesn't support it, but maybe there is some option to do it in the vita menu, maybe, hopefully

So Germany has lovely laws and if I want to use the 14day trial to grab the november/december games, I need to provide a credit card even though I need no money in the account because otherwise I must enter my ID card details which i loving will not do for some games. Is it at all safe to enter mc cc details? Can I remove them later?

copyright1 posted:I think you're out of luck—the Vita menu only has settings for showing those little touch feedback highlights. Otherwise it depends on the game for whether the shoulder buttons are mapped to the front or back touchscreens. This is true and also garbage. They need to let players map L2/R2 to something else because so many PS4 games rely on them heavily in a way that doesn't work for the back touch.

I don't know if this is a German thing necessarily, in the USA this is how basically every "free trial" ever works -- you're required to enter your info and if you don't choose to cancel your subscription before the end of your trial, it will automatically renew it & charge you. Should be perfectly safe, just don't forget to cancel it.

So if you are lazy or on the fence its easier to just keep the service.

For GTA5 the R2/L2 are mapped to R/L which is fine, but the stuff for L1/L3 and R1/R3 are kind of janky. So I feel your pain, if only it was like the psp emulation in a way that you could remap some controls.

As someone who bought the Deluxe edition. No it isn't really worth it. The Red Lyrium weapons you get as a freebie for watching some YouTube videos are all better than Deluxe edition stuff.

Some devs spend the little extra time it takes to remap the trigger/3 buttons and in those cases remote play is fine. I played Destiny on mine just fine for example. A lot of the cross buy games have cross saving too, so Binding if Isaac and spelunky for example have their own version with compatible saves.

My PS4 is connected to a DVI monitor. I've got headsets to listen for when I game solo, but if I want to multiplay or Netflix I need to connect it to my RCA stereo speakers. The PS4 doesn't have an RCA out, but the DAC solution is the same cost as this: http://www.monoprice.com/Product?c_id=108&cp_id=10823&cs_id=1082711&p_id=10248&seq=1&format=2 And I get to connect my PS4, PS3, and iPhone. I just don't know how to figure out *if* they'll connect.

So I got my PS4 about a month and a half ago. Whenever I turn it on for the first time that day I can play for about 30 minutes then it just shuts off. I have to unplug it from the wall then plug it back in or it wont turn back on. It seems many people have this issue online but no fix...do I really have to send in my Ps4 already? Once I turn it back on again I can play for hours and hours, it just happens after I wake it up from stand bye after a few hours of being gone.

If they're like the 30-day trials, yes. You can immediately delete you card info and turn off auto-renewal after starting the trial. To turn off auto-renewal for PS+ on PS4: Go to Settings -> PSN -> Account Information -> Services List -> PlayStation Plus -> whatever option has "Subscription" on the right of the screen -> select the "Cancel Automatic Renewal" button. It's not a law, it's a PSN thing. All PS+ trials require a card entered in before starting them.

So my christmas present arrived early, and I have a fairly weird question. The shift to a more conventional architecture is going to seem more apps cover the more obvious gaps in the device's portfolio (eg streaming music from DLNA/other server) - true/false? Sony has a horrible habit of being cool and awesome, then introducing a vastly overpriced 'music' service that you're forced into; I'm kinda hoping that seeing the indies port their games fairly easily creates a viable market for more apps. Also, is there an easy procedure that works on replacing the HDD that retains the content of the drive, or is it the same rigmarole as replacing the PS3 drive? I ask because Diablo is 28Gb, and that's going to eat my 500Gb in little to no time.

No, there's currently no utility to copy your data for a hard drive upgrade.

AMD64: Nope. Not unless it's another streaming service or something. That's what the browser is for I guess. Irony (the definition that's actually 'poetic bullshit', not literal literary irony): You only need to use the Internet browser for local servers, not actual Internet services. Hard drives: There isn't even a backup/restore now. Copy your saves first, then prepare for the Internetverbindammerung.

Hav posted:So my christmas present arrived early, and I have a fairly weird question. The shift to a more conventional architecture is going to seem more apps cover the more obvious gaps in the device's portfolio (eg streaming music from DLNA/other server) - true/false? Right now you can indeed stream all the music you want while playing games but only if you're a paid subscriber to Sony's Music Unlimited service. So, like you said. I would really like to see apps like Plex or services like Spotify available natively on PS4 but right now I kind of suspect the reason we're not seeing them is Sony's doing and not due to lack of effort on the part of app developers, but I haven't really read an interview or seen a source on how open they're planning on being with app development for the PS4 so I can't say for sure what to expect. Surprisingly enough, though, Plex just got a release on Xbox One so maybe that will act as a kick in the pants for Sony to let a third party open up media streaming even if they don't wanna gently caress with it themselves, but we'll see how that goes down. It's worth noting btw that you can use the Plex web app on the PS4 browser to stream movies and music from a computer and functionally it works totally fine but I'd still like to see an app just because of how slick the Plex interface is edit: and yeah they've talked a big deal (and backed it up with actions!) about supporting indie game devs with releases on the PS4 but they haven't really spent much time on how they plan on supporting non-game app developers. I can see why; I think they gained a lot of momentum before launch by focusing on games while Xbox was catching poo poo for all the emphasis put on it being a media center, but yeah regardless of that it's nice to not have to switch away from your $400 console to do something as basic as streaming music from your PC, especially when that was a feature on the consoles that got released like 10 years ago. I hope their next big system update pays some attention to all that stuff, but I guess we gotta wait and see goferchan fucked around with this message at 06:10 on Dec 1, 2014 |

In comparison to the 360, the PS3 is anemic when it comes to apps. I can't imagine that Sony will decide to let Crunchyroll, Disney, WWE and so on come into their ecosystem. Hell, the 360 really only did it because of the Live kickback...
