I still like The Last of Us, BF4, and GTA V, but my experiment to introduce my significant other to video games via MK8 and SM3DW was a success and most of my game time is now spent playing together. I bought the Galaxy games since we are almost done with 3D World. Super Smash Bros and NSMBU didn't click.

So glad I bought this thing.

This seems fairly common.

I won a PS4 and a WiiU in a competition. Never planned to buy a WiiU and only begrudingly kept it while being thrilled with owning a PS4.

Now the PS4 sits sadly and waits for MGS5 while the Wii is whirring its little heart out with Mario and Donkey Kong and Bayonetta and Shovel Knight and OH GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH

I own a PS3 and a Wii U I'd be really hard pressed to find a game on the other platforms that I'd really like to play but just can't. PS4 might have a good lineup by christmas 2015 but right now the choice between the three latest consoles is easy if you had a system last generation and want to pick the one with the most content you can't get anywhere else.

e. The backwards compatibility is also really nice since if the well runs dry I can always dip into the good Wii games I missed out on.

Oh hey, a new third-party game for Wii U!

quote:

Space Hulk® Blasts its way onto consoles everywhere!

The Desperate Battle of Space Marines and Genestealers Commences on PS3®, PS-VITA®, and Wii U™ Platforms in 2015

Berkeley, CA –December 2nd, 2014. – International Publisher HR GAMES today announced that in association with Full Control and Games Workshop, it will be bringing the digital version of Games Workshop’s legendary Space Hulk® to the PS3 (PlayStation® 3), PS-VITA (PlayStation® VITA) and the Nintendo eShop on Wii U™ in 2015. Based on the best-selling board game and set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, Space Hulk® is a 3D digital turn based strategy game that recreates the classic claustrophobic board game experience for single player and multiplayer.

Space Hulk is set in the isolated corridors and tomb-like chambers of an ancient vessel lost in the graveyard of space. Players lead a small army of fearless Space Marine Terminators to battle in a ferocious fight for survival against hordes of predatory alien Genestealers. Based on the "Sin of Damnation" campaign from the 3rd edition board game, Space Hulk includes a robust 12 mission single-player campaign, a co-operative campaign, Blood Angel and Space Wolf Chapters and many other thrilling missions! Recreating the tense battles of the board game, multiplayer mode will allow players to go head-to-head as one player controls the Space Marines and their opponent the Genestealers, in the ultimate fight for domination.

‘We are simply honored to bring this legendary universe to consoles everywhere. Having played the board game years ago and being a big fan of Games Workshop products, our decision to make this journey was a natural one’ expressed Manny Granillo, President & CEO of HR GAMES. ‘The PS3, PS-Vita and Wii U™ with its unique GamePad controller, will make the SPACE HULK® universe come to life!’

About Space Hulk the board game

Space Hulk® is a game for two players based on the battles fought between the Space Marines and the alien Genestealers, in the darkened corridors and rooms of an incredibly ancient space vessel known as a Space Hulk. First released as a board game in 1989, it has seen multiple expansions and editions up to the limited 4th edition in 2014.

I had a hankering to play some Rogue Squadron, and the idea occurred to me that it would really be super great if Nintendo would make a Star Fox game that played like Rogue Squadron.

Because Star Fox 64 was good and all, but it really had nothing on Rogue Squadron's gameplay. Big open maps with a bunch of objectives to accomplish. Being loving harder than hell is... optional.

It apparently only happens to people who play For Glory. I'd bet $100 that it's due to players powering down the system as soon as they start to lose so they don't get a recorded loss.

I was playing for glory and my power browned out, but nothing bad happened.

I have accidentally disconnected two times. The gameplay is so smooth I forget this is an online game and I hit pause because my wife needs help or something, then I see the disconnect message and am like "Oh poo poo, cancel" and of course highlight the wrong option.

Which is so dumb. I eat losses all the time just so I can either leave a really laggy match, or because I'm fighting someone who I straight up can't even touch cause they're so good and I wasn't going to win anyway. But I don't deal with the 10 minute wait for disconnecting, so I'll just suicide. I imagine my loss percentage is all out of wack, and I can't seem to find any indication that there's any kind of real matchmaking going on so it's not like it matters

That happens with low print games like Metroid Prime Trilogy or Xenoblade. If it's out of stock in all retailers and only affiliate sellers (AKA, scalpers) are selling it, it's out of print. Good news, you can buy it digitally if it's cheaper than what they are asking for it.

Currently, no Wii U games have seen a "Players' Choice" or similar re-release (though I guess NES Remix Pack technically is a re-release but that's different). With the recent release of the Pikmin 3 demo and Pikmin short movies, you'd think that Nintendo would have tried to make the game a little more easy to come by, even if it just meant dropping the price on the eShop.

Getting the Wii U for my family for Christmas. My TV is really far from where the Wii U will be. My HDMI cables are already wired, but do I need to get a wireless sensor bar? My TV has USB ports and it looks like the sensor bar plugs in via USB, so I'm thinking that I can just plug it the sensor bar to pull power that way. Or does it actually need to be plugged into the Wii U?

Seems like it. You could probably find a copy at MSRP or perhaps on clearance at a local retailer that can't seem to ever move video games, however, such as a K-Mart or something.

Pretty sure the sensor bar isn't USB, it's a separate plug on the console used only for that.

Yeah, the sensor bar isn't USB. As far as I'm aware, the only reason it even plugs into the system to begin with is because it needs something to power it. You won't be able to plug it into the TV, but a wireless, battery-powered sensor bar shouldn't be very hard to find.

Pikmin 2 is Good Times Island but it doesn't even come close to being better than 1. 1's style and gameplay are so tight and polished. A lot of people don't like the 30 short days but I think you need it for the game's tone. There's palpable feedback to collecting the ship parts, as opposed to watching the fund count go up in 2.

White/purple pikmin feel like an afterthought. The dungeons are a neat idea but they're sooo bland and uninspired. Pikmin 1 just feels a little more restrained in all the right ways

If it's the same as the original wii the wire for the sensor bar is really, really long so you might not need a wireless one, but its not a normal usb plug. There's no data actually sent between the bar and the wii, it's literally just 2 lights, so if you can figure out a way to jury-rig the power there's no reason it needs to be plugged into the console.
