I haven't played any of the previous games because i've never had a playstation, but they look pretty cool and I'd like to play them on my new hardware.

So is the "emagon" supposed to be a teaser for FFVII? With the 20 years hint from the video and the 20 year anniversary reminder from the eu Twitter it seems slightly likely. Showing that FFVII was the most asked for remake could be another hint. Plus it would really be a pretty good "well kept secret" if they decided to release it before the year ended.

Some quick first impressions about Game of Thrones, from someone who has read the books a few times and watched the series: - You'll definitely want to be familiar with the source material. There's a codex, but I can't imagine anyone coming into this blind and understanding a lot of this stuff. - The art style doesn't really match the grittiness of the show, and it's disconcerting. I didn't feel this way about the Telltale Walking Dead games, but something just seems...off. - Having played all of the previous Telltale stuff on a 360, the game is loving smooth. Decisions used to hitch up all the time on my 360, and here you can't even tell. - The VA is ok, haven't run into any of the series regulars yet but it's all passable. I like it so far, despite not really digging the art style (something I think they loving mastered with Wolf Among Us). Edit: well, maybe not as smooth as I originally thought. And there's some weird low poly models in there as well. Maybe it's something about the way they're doing the cel shading or whatever. EC fucked around with this message at 22:58 on Dec 2, 2014 |

I think you're right that it'll be hard to follow for people who haven't watched the show or read the books, but I always feel that way about adaptions of stuff I'm already familiar with. Usually I'm surprised by people who go into these things fresh and still are able to follow things, so I'm curious to see the reaction from people who aren't familiar with the source material.

I'm weirdly anticipating what this new Order 1886 demo Ready at Dawn is bringing there will show us. It's pretty much the last big moment in the sun it has before release. I imagine it'll get the full on-stage demo treatment too, since it got bumped from having it at last E3 (was supposed to have eleven minutes, they ended up with five) because there was so much jostling for time between third-party dealsand the ten minutes of dead air that was Brian Michael Bendis talking about Powers, which might or might not be replicated this time around with a Vue demonstration. In NBA2k14 it looked like an actual game on the TV as you played because the colors were subdued and whatever filters they used just made it look perfect. Don't feel bad. The NBA2k series is amazing. Well, the PS4 I ordered over Thanksgiving weekend arrived two days earlier then I expected. I'm trying hard to not let this thing get in the way of assignments I need to get done this week, but I've got the system set up and am currently downloading the games I purchased for it last week. That controller is so much better than the Dualshock 3, oh my god. I've been used to the form factor of the Dualshock controllers for years, but this one has an immediately noticeable improvement.

At least it would somewhat interesting seeing them try to make FF7 again almost 20 years later and watch how much of the 90s JRPG remains in between the over-budget cut-scenes and hair physics.

Finished the first episode of GoT. I really enjoyed it, especially toward the end once things started heating up. The game basically remixes story elements from the show, and some of the new characters feel a little like stand-ins for the main cast (the girl at King's Landing is pretty much Sansa), but I actually like that approach because it makes it feel familiar and "Game of Thronesy" without getting too tied down by the main plot. They can take familiar story elements in different directions. I'm really looking forward to episode two

I finished episode 1 of Game of Thrones. It's faithful to the show and requires that you make some very hard choices that will impact the rest of the episodes. It's good, and the choices give an sense of urgency and careful consideration even though there is a timer, making the whole thing intense. The game uses main and side characters from the show that play to the strengths and gameplay of the game.
