Is there any way to tell if the pokemon you need to catch to complete an area are in the water or on land? Trying to find the last pokemon in the safari zone but I'm not sure if the gold crown means I got everything on land, everything in water, or neither.

VVVV A bunch of the legendary held items (plates, orbs, etc.) are scattered around the sea floor. Its pretty dumb.

So there's a second TM in the Seafloor Cavern besides Earthquake? I can't seem to figure out any new routes besides a strength boulder moving room that I can't figure out. Also, is diving as tedious as it looks right now? I saw something about hidden items under the sea.

e. I found the second TM. There was a door I didn't investigate.

Can I get some feedback on my NU team? I just made it earlier tonight and it's my first real NU team so I sorta just grabbed things I liked and that I knew were ok. It has a pretty decent record so far but I mean I'm ~1200 so that doesn't mean a lot. I think the biggest issue is the lack of spinner since it fucks up Eruption sweeps, and no solid answer to Rotom, but any advice is appreciated:

Anyone else find that Super Trainer gives you 'wasted' EVs? After I max my 2 main stats, I usually end up getting 6 EVs before I hit the stat cap.

This is intentional. Pokemon can have 510 EV's total and a maximum of 255 in any stat. Every 4 EV's in a stat gives you a +1 boost to that stat. Naturally this means if you just go whole hog and max out your 2 primary stats you end up with 6 EV's overall wasted since the maximum USEFUL EV's you can have in any stat is 252. (Highest available number divisible by 4)

Gen 6 takes this into account when Super Training and sets the maximum amount you can train in one stat to 252 rather than the absolute max of 255.

So I haven't played Pokemon in generations and decided to pick up Omega Ruby and see how the latest and greatest would treat me. One of my first catches using the new sneaky scan thing was a Taillow that can use some move I'd never heard of called Boomburst. What the hell is up with this broken move? It hits everyone on screen (except the user) which I guess is meant to be its disadvantage, but the damage it does is absolutely mind-bending. Pair him up with a ghost in double-battles and I can just walk through them with my eyes closed. It does ridiculous stuff during contests too, especially if you pair it with Quick Attack so you can go at the beginning of the round and just shut down everyone else.

Anyway I'm enjoying the hell out of OR but the new PokeNav thing seems a little broken.

The PokeNav is great, but this isn't anything out of the usual, the main story has always been fairly easy. Just have fun with it and play your favorite Pokemon (especially since Swellow is loving abysmal in actual battles :negative:)

Also Boomburst is the strongest Normal type attack that only like 6 monsters can use so

Pokenav has a chance for pokemon to have moves that they normally don't have access to, or cool hold items/abilities etc.
The main story has always been a cakewalk, the real challenge is in breeding your own perfect battle-monsters to beat people up with over the internet.

I took it upon myself to do an updated stud breeding tree, originally made by Zoran, taking into account the wider range of pokemon available to owners of both XY and ORAS. It saves on a measly 10 egg cycles overall (182 cycles, down from 192), but dammit it's more efficient! :colbert:

This is the path to follow, starting at Magikarp for the same reasons;

code:
Species | Egg groups | Egg cycles

Yes. And while you can use repels, if you're too slow, the Pokemon can run away and ruin your chain. I've had that happen to me too many times while Deino hunting. :argh: The worst thing is that it might only pop up once before deciding to run away and it might spawn too far away for you to reach.

Jack in!! MegaMan, Execute!
So I decide to go catch Suicune after getting Raikou and Entei. As a note, I will be referring to Suicune as female even though it's probably considered male canonically. It just looks feminine, okay? :colbert:

Anyway, I only have twenty minutes to catch her before the hour rolls over and you have to wait until XX:40 - XX:59 for her to return. GameSync lagged for, like, three to five minutes, so I'm down to ten minutes. But that should be fine, right?

So the battle starts, and I send out my Bold Synchronize Ralts. I should've had it fainted before I started the battle, but Suicune knocks it out soon enough. Then I send out my Lilligant. I use Sleep Powder to put Suicune to sleep and then use Dream Eater, which reduces her to yellow instead of red, proving that she is indeed Bold. So far so good.

And then Suicune IMMEDIATELY wakes up on the next turn.

So I use Sleep Powder again. Suicune dodges three turns in a row.

I manage to hit her with Sleep Powder and then throw a ball. She breaks out and wakes up again on the next turn.

Without wiggling.

And the whole time, Sucune is just standing there like "BY THE WAY, I HOPE YOU ENJOY MY ABILITY MAKING YOU USE UP AN EXTRA PP EACH TURN :v:"

And then she froze my Lilligant with Ice Fang.

Did I mention that I was using the Capture Level 3 O-Power?

So, long story short, it took me about forty minutes to catch it even though it ended up being the right nature.

I think Suicune's mad that I got its gender wrong.

It looks like the crowns are based on active pokedex entries and if you don't have the national dex then national dex pokemon on those routes are considered uncaught even if you possess them.
