Got in some games today with two friends who are newer to the game and had their first ITS games as their entry into trying it before N3 and the new ITS comes out in the new year. I decided to play some Bakunin at 300pts, they brought Hassasin Bahram and ALEPH respectively. My list was: JURISDICTIONAL COMMAND OF BAKUNIN ────────────────────────────────────────────────── GROUP 1 7 1 1 REVEREND CUSTODIER Hacker (Hacking Device Plus) Lieutenant Combi Rifle + Marker / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 38) SIN-EATER HMG / Pistol, CCW. (2 | 34) ZERO (Forward Observer) Combi Rifle, Antipersonnel Mines / Pistol, Knife. (21) ZERO (Deployable Repeater) E/Mauler, Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (0.5 | 24) TSYKLON Spitfire, Marker / Electric Pulse. (1 | 37) CHIMERA Combi Rifle, Nanopulser, Zero-V Smoke Grenades / Viral CCW. (23) 2x PUPNIK DA CCW. DAKTARI Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife. (14) ZONDBOT Electric Pulse. (3) SALYUT (EVO Repeater) Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 13) GROUP 2 5 3 3 VERTIGO ZOND Guided Missile Launcher / Electric Pulse. (1 | 34) VORTEX (WIP15, BTS-6, Engineer, Hacking Device) Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse, Stun Pistol. (9 | 12XP) MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9) MODERATOR Combi Rifle + Marker / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (0.5 | 11) MODERATOR Combi Rifle / Pistol, Electric Pulse. (9) MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (7) MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (7) MORLOCK Chain Rifle, Smoke Grenades / Pistol, Shock CCW. (7) 6 SWC | 300 Points Open with Army 4 I think both of them were a bit surpirsed at me having two combat groups. . Fun times and they both loved playing ITS compared to YAMS or alternative and how it shakes up the game. They both did some initial reading on ITS before making lists but I've been out of touch with the forums for a while, does anyone know if there's any type of rundown on ITS for newer players to explain list building? I explained the basics to them but they'd both like some more reading on the game too. Flipswitch fucked around with this message at 19:42 on Nov 29, 2014 |

The only really new-player focused list building advice I have seen was I think on Crits Kill People, and it boiled down to "1 hidden Lt, 2 big attackers, two backup attackers (camo or snipers), 3 specialists, and 2 cheerleaders/backfield protectors"

That's actually not bad in itself. I usually recommended around that but not that specific.

If my shasvastii is killed by fire, does the spawn embryo need to keep rolling for the fire effect as well? E: btw, Ko Dali kicks rear end. She landed behind his Nomads and killed a reverend healer and grenzr sniper. Then blew the brains out of a spektr as he came out of TO camo to kill her. Really? I thought shasvastii had three states: unconscious, dead and embryo?

It's: unconscious -> embryo -> dead.

The biggest tournament in Australia is coming up, and I'm planning to attend. Sadly, the format is one of the weirdest formats I've seen for a tournament in a long time. The first round is 150pts, then round 2 is 200, 3 is 250, 4 is 300, and 5 is 400. With a maximum of two combat groups. Part of me wants to listwrite so that my list 'grows' between matches, but as ALEPH, that locks me out of so many delicious options.

Wiki: If the Shasvastii receives 1 Wound, it falls Unconscious. If it receives 2 Wounds, it passes to Dead state (Replace the miniature by a Spawn-Embryo Marker). If the Spawn-Embryo receives one more Wound, it must be removed from the game table. That's the order I was talking about. Since Spawn-Embryos count as alive for the purposes of VP/area control/other victory conditions, the "Embryo=Dead" is largely irrelevant, unless you're playing some special scenario I can't think of (e.g. Booty can only grab from unconscious, no problem here; YAMS documents can be grabbed from unconscious or dead, I don't see the difference in Spawn-Embryo level counting as either, etc.)

I've seen this used against Shasvastii, too. I've seen a canny player spend orders to put Unconscious dudes into Seeds, to prevent the Shasvastii player hitting the retreat threshold, artificially extending the length of an ITS game.

I interpreted it as the model being replaced by a counter which is its own "model", hence not being affected by its "parent" burning. But hey, I'm the noob here

This is why nobody likes Shasvastii players, they add more questions to a game that has loads of them. Here's a table related question for you goons, our store/playgroup has now been able to deck out around 8 tables worth of Infinity and store support has let us belt that further up to 12, but we ideally need some more scatter terrain for the last few. Any particular scatter terrain you guys favour? Typical things like shipping crates and board decoration is what I'm after. For reference our tables at the moment tend to use set piece terrain and customize from there. We have two MAS tables, two Sarissa, two Spartan and two Plascraft. e: vvv love u too bby Flipswitch fucked around with this message at 16:44 on Dec 5, 2014 |

Little pots full of flock and plants make great scatter - the pots offer good cover, add a great hint of green to urban terrain, and can be thematically justified on almost any board type. And really, all they are (for our version) is a tiny little foamcore box with an inset top (which holds the flock and greenery).

Got any pictures of those guys? trying to picture it in my head. One of the guys here makes little plant bots for one of our urban high-tech tables and it looks pretty sweet. I'm trying to get a sense of the sort of stuff to use with the PlasCraft PVC stuff for like an urban colony, you know?Pierzak posted:What difference does it make? I don't have any pictures myself and a quick sweep through the arcologies section only showed the more complex stuff that our terrain wizard created for the group. He's Deflater Mouse on the official forum, and he has a bunch of different threads with pictures now.

Obviously I make allowances for Infinity's wonderful presentation of their releases - it won't look as striking on the tabletop painted by an ordinary mortal - but that is one fine model. And for an interesting new profile as well!

Hmmm. Seems now we have Impetuous and extremely Impetuous. The first cannot benefit from cover, but can just ignore his impetuous order with no cost if you choose. The second needs to pay a regular order from the pool, as happens with the current rule.

Dat spetznas. I had my second and third "real" Infinity game today. One fan made scenario and one YAMS one. I can tell I have A LOT to learn, but the one thing I noticed in my two games today was that my Daturazi kept running out and getting gunned down, losing me orders early on. Any tips on how to work around / plan for using Impetuous troops? E: also, my Aswang glued and ate some poor schmuck

Put them 4" back so they don't get 4" out of cover when they have to impetuous-advance. Always drop smokes underfoot when you don't have anything specific to do, "dodging" on PH 17 is amazing and Daturazis are mobile smoke screens as much as units on their own.
