After seeing the pre-release pictures of the amiibos I wasn't going to get one because they looked awful but the ones I actually see at stores look to be of way higher quality. At least Kirby does, and he is adorable and is going to beat up all my friends at Smash Brothers so I think they are cool and good.

I don't think they've been discontinued, but who knows. It doesn't make sense to discontinue the most sought after ones.

Picked up Cap'n toad for 45 @ Target in Canada and got a free amiibo. The Kirby Amiibo (our third) is way heavier than either Link or Samus by comparison.

It's both funny and sad that the game is $45 in Canada. Even if it was $40 like in America, after conversion rates, you'd still be paying more.

The Nes Remix Pack contains both 1 and 2, right?

There are some mold lines visibles and a few tiny little blemishes on a few but they're very high quality. I was pleasantly surprised. They look much better in person than in most of the previews.

Yeah calling them Happy Meal quality isn't really fair. My Samus figurine looks and feels great and Mario looks not bad too. Piss Link is not quite so great though but it's mostly because of the dumb pose.

I'm glad I did ship to store, because that means I can just get my money back.

Man...I'm super glad that I've got those 3 amiibo already. And I'm going to pick up all of the wave 2 ones on sight. I wasn't seriously planning on being an amiibo completionist, but they make such charming little desk adornments.

I'm sure that Nintendo will make additional production runs of all the Amiibos over time. Seell molds are INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE investments - you don't retire a tooling forever after just a couple of weeks. They may "rest" for a while, but they'll come back. I managed to get a Villager at Nintendo World today, in any case.

I just got the couple Amiibos I ordered when Toys R' Us was doing their 40% off sale (Link and Yoshi). It was really interesting reading that one article someone linked to about training 3 Yoshi Amiibos in Smash in different ways and seeing how different their AI developed. I was really surprised at how apparently in depth the AI development is and how different the resulting behaviors were. Has anyone else come across any good information about the Amiibo AI development in Smash?

I think I'll be done w/ Toad by tomorrow. Very satisfying. Great game for playing in 30-60 minute chunks. Dunno how replayable it will be, though. :/

Plus they're still testing whether or not the general concept will sell well enough. I wouldn't be surprised if say, as part of 'celebration' type events in future, they also announce the return of either relevant (say, game release) or sought after Amiibo.

I would imagine that, if they were to release a WiiU Animal Crossing game, they would release an Animal Crossing amiibo series with Isabelle, other Villagers, and a bunch of the staple characters like Mable and Able, Kapp'n, etc.

The Aussie dollar was above parity for years and they were still charging us a 50% markup because they didn't give a gently caress.

WiiU games are generally 65 here, so toad at 45 was the correct pricing. The free Amiibo bundle @ target Canada was worth it.

So I just unlocked chapter 3 in Captaind Toad. First I don't understand people saying this amount of content isn't worth $40 cause it sure feels like a lot for a game that's $20 less than 3D World. And also I don't understand how people are getting through this game in only 3-5 hours. I'm way further than that. I guess if you DON'T bother going after the gems or any of the challenges, but they feel like a natural part of the level I feel like the stage isn't really complete until you at least collect all the gems. And I gotta say, some of these stages have been downright hard and some of the challenges have been pretty hard too. I didn't really spoil myself on much with the game though, so after I unlocked the 2nd chapter I was like "okay now that $40 is REALLY paying off" and I just unlocked MORE stages, and not to mention the little bonus 3D World stuff. I just dunno how people are blasting through this game so quick

Plus something else I haven't seen mentioned - in addition to the diamonds and challenges, each level has a speedrun time. I haven't even started on those but that could be interesting if you like that kind of thing. I usually don't so I might not bother if it's particularly difficult. Anyway I am decidedly getting my money's worth.

I'm also really interested in Captain Toad, but $40 makes just a bit hesitant. I doubt it will go on sale during the holidays, but I'll pick it up when I got some spare bucks. I like cute poo poo so I'm in.

I just recently passed up 9 hours and I've completed all but one challenge in the main game (the challenge for the final boss, I can hardly even find half the coins I need) and the vast majority of the postgame content, with challenges completed there, too. And it's not like I'm trying to rush through this thing - I've even gone back and done a few of the time trials.
