How many years has that lawyer been practising? If its been awhile, maybe years of family law broke his mind. Although having a family law matter decided by a jury seems loving weird to me. Monaghan fucked around with this message at 17:01 on Dec 10, 2014 |

I'm actually kind of giddy I managed to inspire that much loathing with just a few words. words that basically come down to "sometimes people need to go to jail" and "victims have rights too."

If you are playing a woman, do not act surprised at the thought of walzing with another girl. 3. Explore in small quantities...run back to party, run around looking for poo poo, lather, rinse, repeat. 4. If you are a completion Nazi like I am, do not do what the game prompts you to do (go to ballroom or wherever) until you've found all the coins and all the stupid hallas. I am still angry I missed that achievement. Any specific questions? All the find poo poo side quests are not necessary (unless you are a completion Nazi) and don't seem to impact your epilogue one way or the other. You know, even if you're right, you don't always have to be right. I received some divine wisdom 8 years ago when I started bringing up silly things like facts and numbers while arguing with someone. He stopped me and said "man, never argue with an idiot. I'm just going to say something stupid that pisses you off and then I win." Taking that to heart has helped me a lot in life to smile and nod and just move on. But, I mean, if you do have to be right, carry on.

I had to talk about patent law with a lawyer for five minutes today. It was fascinating for three of them until she brought up the point that one of the patents we got in 2014 was originally filed in 2005 and had been argued by not one, not two, but three different companies for nine years btw it's not granted everywhere yet PS arguing in D&D is literally more productive than anything any of those lawyers did for 8.5 of those and they're the lucky ones because at least they work in socialist Europe and have time off PPS posting from home where I've been for 2 hours at 7:15 PM

So...this month is going to be fun. Opened up new assignment. First paragraph: ISSUES PRESENTED 1. The state's case rested primarily on the testimony of a dizzy crackhead. The petitioner produced evidence at his habeas trial that directly contradicted this star witness. The petitioner's criminal defense counsel did not present that testimony to the jury. Was counsel ineffective. I have never seen an issue written that way. And not to put too fine a point on it, but he was convicted of the conspiracy only...not the murder...so clearly his attorney did successfully discredit the crackhead. So why are we here? Oh yeah, our habeas system is broken.

3) He tries to put an 11 year old on the stand to testify in her own custody case, then when the judge refuses, demands to read into the record what he thinks her testimony might be. Isn't this just an offer of proof? I mean it's insane given that 1) that evidentiary ruling is obviously correct and 2) that ain't getting appealed but still

I try to limit my forums exposure to threads on video games I am currently playing, GiP, and threads about tattoos. It makes for a happier me. Hell, I only recently started checking this thread again after a couple years off. I used to give advice in e/n and make fun of people in helldump and what have you but after a while the tides of pure weirdness that wash up here on Something Awful tend to erode the soul. Stay away from D & D.
