No matter how much paperwork I process, it never goes away. It only increases.
so yesterday my dad was telling me about an internship he had at HP back in the 80s where he had a co-worker from Sweden whose family had to pay above 100% of their income "due to the socialist tax system"

no idea if this is STDH or not, would probably need a Swede to verify

While the trickery of the Swedish snow slavs knows no bounds, a lot of people in Europe, and probably North America, pay more than 100 percent taxes on their income for values of income meaning "Money I have left over after I spent it all."

(Also, tax rate discussions are utterly meaningless without taking into account possible alternative revenue streams for social security systems and similiar state projects that might be covered by tax revenue in country A and alternative revenue streams in country B. In the same vein, what part of your gross income is actually taxable might be quite different between countries.)

If you're allowed to mix taxes on earnings with taxes on consumption to determinate a tax rate, sky's probably the limit.

^^as i recall it, some relatively respected institution came out and presented their maths on this, and it was accepted - one would have to do those things to have 70% of one's income "disappear" in taxes and fees.

this woman's favourite book is atlas shrugged and she's finance minister in my country

the norwegian election thread was called "last stand of social democracy" for a reason, the only reason her party and the Conservatives aren't in a pure majority coalition is because they somehow managed to run the worst election i've seen in my adult life, for which i am profoundly grateful - now they're dependent on the liberals and the christian democrats

I remember reading this enormous .txt file on GameFAQs once that detailed every facet of Final Fantasy VI, all editions, including every item, every monster, a detailed strategy for each, and a whole host of bad jokes. It was the most autistic thing I had ever seen, and I wondered how a person could have this much time on their hands, and it turns out the guy who wrote it was from Norway and living off of government stipend.

Because of that, I've always assumed everyone in Norway is just dicking around all the time.

A Swedish goon and I have a theory that Norwegians are just issued ATM cards that they can wander around the world with, withdrawing as much money as they want anytime they want. If you meet Norwegians abroad this makes a lot of sense.

Fun fact: A poo poo-ton of the waiters and low/mid-level IT people and other worker bees in Norway are now Swedes. The idea of Sweden as Norway's Mexico is bizarre and cracked me up when I first heard about it, but I guess when you slowly sell off all your industry this is what happens.

ASK ME ABOUT LUMBER

i'm not the best to ask about this, being from the west and relatively far from sweden

we have all the "brother peoples" jokes, where you have the norwegian and the swede and the dane and everyone who's not a norwegian is a complete moron, but those are basically universal, then you have the stereotype that swedes are decadent, have no taste, and tend towards the flamboyant

basically remnants of a piously protestant peasant culture's inferiority complexes towards its more well-to-do neighbour

like, sweden had feudalism and poo poo, the norwegian nobility wished they had feudalism, but all they got was plague

e. swedes: also weak and effeminate

e2. really the best way to understand norwegian attitudes towards anything is to have an image of a relatively poor guy who was really nice and helpful and everything who suddenly got rich and now has no idea what to do, so he starts behaving in this weird voodoo-wealthy way, trying his very best to act like rich people are supposed to but just not quite getting what rich people are supposed to act like so he just spends money on vulgar poo poo and hires the guy he used to look up to and now thinks he's cool while knowing that there's something he's missing and now he's compensating for it and soon it will have completely corrupted him and he will be insufferable

So how long till Norwegian media begins to depict Swedish unskilled laborers as swarthy, uncultured people whose only goal is to take Norwegian jobs?
