Johnny Depp doing stuff like this with Manson makes me like Manson and Depp less every time it happens. Stick to acting, Johnny. Actually, thinking about his last few films, maybe he shouldn't even be doing that anymore.

Pale Emperor is very close to Thin White Duke. Mansin ripping off Bowie always seems to pay more dividends than Manson ripping off 90's Manson, so I'm on board for that.

"Third Day" wasn't like incredible or anything like the first time I heard Dope Hat or Tourniquet, but it's still cool enough that I'm interested in the record, which I haven't been with a manson release in... uh... since like GotG?

Those titles all seem like fake titles someone writing a parody article about Manson would come up with. "Cupid Carries a Gun."

So far the artwork/imagery and track titles look pretty good—nothing obnoxiously stupid like "Arma-goddamn-motherfucking-geddon" or "I want to kill you like they do in the movies". The new song he released was actually decent, too.

Oh god, I'm seriously considering throwing away my money, but from the clips of the live shows he did recently, he looks like he's having fun on stage again. And if it's only going to be like $30 to go see it, I've wasted more money on more useless crap than an entertaining evening. Plus, its in a casino, so if it really sucks, i can go spend the rest of my night gambling. e: Its the casino my friend works at. they can probably get me a free room for the night. im going. e2: watch out for bros. posted i was going on my facebook to see if anyone wants to carpool, and the responses i got were all from Sons of Anarchy fans. Even tho he's only in about 10 minutes total this season and exists only to read lovely love poems and assrape a character. So even worse than the angsty 13 year olds (bearable, at least they're not going to be super shitfaced), 35 year olds who still think it's the 90's (bearable, because they're there because they remember ACS/MA and when Manson was still good), there's going to be bros, who think Nickleback is good music. Hopefully places where your watercooler talk on wednesday morning doesn't consist of how great of a show SoA is it'll be much better, but here in the midwest, unfortunately, they are going to be a part of the crowd. Scarling are great if you liked JOJ's less screamy moments and wondered what that would sound like with Girls Against Boys-esque shoegaze noise-pop instrumentals.

Just listened to the album. I'll just break it down by song. 1. Killing Strangers. - loving solid. Great guitar, bass, and delivery of vocals. Was in the Keanu Reeves movie John Wick only it sounds better now. "We got guns..motherfuckas better, better run! " 2. Deep Six. - Solid. You've heard it. 3. Third Day of A Seven Day Binge.- Good but not great. You've heard this one two. 4. The Mephistopheles of Los Angeles. - Arguably my favorite on the disc and most likely going to be the second single. Not as fast and thrashing as Deep Six but it has a catchy drumbeat to a blues sounding guitar with Manson yelling "Are we Fated, Fateful, or Fatal" before going into a glam chorus about meeting his maker. 5. Worship My Wreck. - Solid. A slower, piano & base driven song. The delivery of the vocals don't sound like Manson's traditional voice. It was really fresh. 6. Slave Only Dreams to be King. - Interesting but not a favorite. Very drum driven song. Starts out with a voiceover of a James Allen quote (not by Manson): "The human will, that force unseen, The offspring of a deathless soul, Can hew the way to any goal, Though walls of granite intervene. 7. The Devil Beneath my Feet. - Another solid track. Very bass & drum driven with angry lyrics embracing the devil, drugs, and the bohemian lifestyle. Classic Manson with a modern feel to it. 8. The Birds of Hell Awaiting. - I didn't like this one. 9. Cupid Carries a Gun. - Good but not great like Third Day. Sounds much better than it did on the Salem opening titles as a whole song. 10. Odds of Even. - Another interesting one but not my taste. Don't mind slower songs but didn't really think it worked here as the album closer. Throughout the disc Manson is noticeably more lucid in his vocals (sounds like he's having fun) than in the last 10 or so years and it doesn't suffer from lyrical repetitiveness (High End of Low) or lovely delivery (EMDM/GAoG). This new producer Tyler Bates he got is the best thing thats happened to him. Easily the best sounds since Hollywood.

That certainly is a music video. Seriously, don't let this crummy video fool you. In fact, don't bother watching it at all. It's pretty bad. I've been listening to the new album on and off for the past few days and I'm very satisfied with it. It's easily the most impressive record he's made since Holy Wood and I'm almost tempted to say that it's a worthy successor to it.

I've listened to the album twice now. It's got a couple of good tracks, but the majority of it is, once again, boring as hell. It's somewhere in between GAoG, and Born Villain or High End Of Low.

I think The Pale Emperor beats out EMDM for my least favorite Marilyn Manson album. With the single exception of "Deep Six", all the songs are way too slow and plodding for my taste, and they really all kind of sound the same. "Deep Six" got me excited, and a couple more uptempo songs like that would have made this a much better album. At least EMDM had a couple of hard rockers (as much as I dislike the album overall, "Evidence" is one of my favorite MM tracks). Also, I didn't realize there was such dislike for The High End of Low. I think it's solid and it's easily my favorite of the last four albums (the period since the band fell apart and Manson basically went "solo").
