Hoping this isn't representative of the new EP 'Nocturnes' was one of my favourite albums of 2013 and I'm really happy she is putting out new stuff this soon (I think an album is coming next year please be good) but yeah, I'm not feeling 'Taste It' at all. Hopefully the rest will be better. Josh Lyman posted:In which Jessie J shows up Ariana Grande like nobody's business: 'Bang Bang' is a pretty banging song. The two new Madonna tracks that leaked yesterday are p cool, definitely better than most of MDNA. Very reminiscent of her Music and American Life albums, with a little bit of Confessions to boot.

I've been on a Max Martin kick this weekend. This is very good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmOvxJhXx5Y This chorus is identical to Pink's "You and Your Hand" but it's still a fun song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PE8XM1gHEno And of course, this is a classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQMlWwIXg3M The dude can write a catchy song like no one's business.

I've been listening to this Nick Jonas album a ton these last few days, surprised at how much I am enjoying it. Most of the songs follow the exact same formula but there are a lot of hella good jams on here, like Jealous, Chains, Teacher and Warning.

Hoping this isn't representative of the new EP The Business Pleasure EP is now on Spotify (at least in Germany, I think UK/US follow tomorrow), and while the other songs are certainly more melodic and the production is good throughout, after the first listen nothing jumped out at me. Since it's stylistically even further from Hands than Nocturnes, I guess it's a fully intentional decision not to be "pop" in an obvious way. I can respect that, but I'd just really like a new Meddle or Mathematics or Remedy or Stuck on Repeat . To this day I'm really impressed with how great Hands is. Not one bad track. Never head that one before, but the verses are such an unholy mix of Tom Jones' Delilah and Besame Mucho that I hope the band got sued by SOMEONE for that. Why yes, I did have a crush on Natalie Imbruglia because of Torn. The Way was based on news reports about an old couple who disappeared. I think their bodies were found in their car after the song was released.

Yeah, 'Business Pleasure' is sadly kinda forgettable. She's been talking about her label troubles and not enjoying negotiating the big pop machine for a while now so I can understand trying to stay away from that. Part of me is kinda disappointed with the direction she is going but the other is like it's great that she's happy and in control and none of her earlier stuff will disappear. Unless she goes all KLF. That would be weird. Here's some more 90s stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgffRW1fKDk This was my jam also I had a mega crush on Saffron. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVNdTXEJv1A Possibly one of the best pop songs ever (yes this was released in 1999). 90s were weird but also kinda cool.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BjYWwZYLYEs Am I just getting old, or is the DJ Earworm year-end mashup not as good as past years? Way too much Maroon 5/Taylor Swift/Meghan Trainor, not enough balance with the other songs.

[Charli says her third album will be heavily inspired by Japanese pop music and will sound like both “another planet up in the clouds” and “intensely weird and childlike.”] This will be interesting. Also what the hell who was the idiot poo poo who set the release dates for 'Sucker'? Over a month gap between the US and EU? What the gently caress?

If it's the cover, we'll just have to agree to disagree, 'cause this one looks more interesting than the MDNA covers, and about ten times better than that desperate Hard Candy cover. The songs themselves are a mixed bag. Actually, I think most of them are fine, outside of some cringeworthy lyrics here or there. The only one I really can't stand is Bitch, I'm Madonna. Turns out Sophie's style doesn't translate to other artists well, especially if you take the crazy pitched vocals out of the equation. Nicki's verse is the best thing about it, which is kinda scary considering I thought her own album was very boring.
