The art for the Correg. Jaguars is funny, it's pretty anime to the max and I keep getting the names confused. You'd almost think Jaguars would be the infiltrators, but Bandits would be the warband. And then I turned the page for the Daktari art, loving god damnit CB.

Got a game in. Other player was pretty taken aback that he didn't have stats for half his stuff, and no I didn't bring it up first. Neither one of us was really happy with the lists he could make from the models we did have, even with a bit of proxying. Command tokens are a big deal. He had an army group with 2x models that he was planning to use for getting points into a quadrant, I used a command token to take that group's two orders away so they couldn't move the first turn. Jaguars are dirty. Smoke and a regular order for 10 points is really good. Had 3x intruders with 3x Jaguar smoke buddies. Managed to get a Jaguar to ARO smoke to cover an Intruder sniper in the reactive turn. I need to re-read the rules but it seemed really dirty. Especially if the sniper just waits and AROs the second half of the orders. Either they lose half an order, of they take a normal roll. Coordinated orders are a thing, and smoke buddy Jaguars and coordinated orders seem extra good. Unless I'm missing something, coordinated orders with smoke throwers are also crazy good. I don't see how you can get an ARO off against a coordinated order since any one of the 4 models making their roll cancels every single non-MSV shot. It seems like it will be crazy with Kum since using coordinated orders to get 4x 8 inch movements seems super efficient to begin with.

I'm almost positive that only the targeted smoke thrower has a chance to cancel the enemy attack. That's why they call throwing smoke a "special dodge." All the rest are normal rolls that don't affect the shot. I'm less certain about this than the above point, but it seems the most sane way for CB to have written their rules (as otherwise there are some rather crazy daisy-chain timing questions that come up). Heads up, the official marker file has been updated with dropship templates and large/huge camo markers. I assume that's a pretty definitive clarification of when we're supposed to know their silhouettes.

Flavor with your character of choice, if desired (I'd get Nesaie to link with the starter box's Thorakitai). I, uh, may have contemplated starting Steel Phalanx in the past. Frequently.

I really wanted some "generic" Aleph troops that I can use as all purpose proxies for Dakinis and Thorakitai. The Myrmidions aren't too bad, except they're all waving swords around like they just tumbled out of a Thunderhawk. I've not played Infinity at all despite owning far too many of the miniatures. Can anyone experienced recommend me a good army list for the miniatures I have painted? 1x Asura Spitfire 1x Nesaie 1x Ko-Dali (converted to be my drop trooper) 2x Deva 1x Naga 1x Myrmidion Lieutenant I was thinking something along the lines of 1x Deva with Spitfire (Proxy Asura) 1x Deva Lieutenant 1x Deva (+Bot) 1x Nesaie 1x Myrmidion with Chain Rifle (Proxy Myrm Lieutenant) 1x Naga Hacker 1x Garuda Tactbot with HMG (Proxy Ko-Dali) This sort of fit into 200pts in Infinity2, but I have no idea if it's even remotely viable in N3.

Got in some more games today and I really like the command token system, it's really fun to play with as is the general fluidity of the new mechanics. Kind of hoping we get a Moran resculpt for Corregidor, the one of them is a bit lovely looking and the other looks complete garbage. I think they'd look great with that new blockier armour style Corregidor tends to have over their current pyjamas.

Is it easiest to start out with sectorials or not as a new player?

So my coworker and I are playing 100pt mini-games in the office and I wanted to get a good idea of what a "strong" list would look like for PanO at that level. I made the joke N3 list of Joan and 5 Fusiliers, but I figured someone with more experience with the game could steer me in a better angle for a solid build at that level.

DJ Dizzy posted:Is it easiest to start out with sectorials or not as a new player? Yes and no. I started pretty much in the worst point possible (pure Shasvastii) and had a blast, so everything's doable. Sectorials are easier because you have a themed force, fewer synergies to wrap your head around, and fewer units to master. Vanilla is easier because you can plug the weakness of sectorial lists with access to varied units, and you don't have to learn link-team rules from the beginning. DJ Dizzy posted:Is it easiest to start out with sectorials or not as a new player? I found it easier to digest all the unit profiles starting with a sectorial. Less to worry about, more singularly focussed, etc. Now that I'm more experienced I'm opening up into my vanilla faction (PanO) to enjoy the wider set of tools available. Plus Military Orders does not have access to a model with a jetpack and turban, so.
