I'm definitely getting a closeted, self-hating denial vibe from Audio here.

I mean, Katia hasn't had sex or even technically been de-clothed in over three years and three quarters of the comic, yet you still seem to be obsessed with seeing her violated in some way.

You should probably talk to someone about that. Not us though.

So if a character in a comic gets drunk and has sex, then it's a "rape comic" to its very bones? So do you view Friends as a rape TV show? The bible as a rape book?

Let's quote the creator

Kazerad posted:

Thanks! And yeah, it was partially inspired by your comments. It was also partially inspired by Zenzirouj's request to learn more about what Katia is like while she's drunk.

And partially inspired by Dominic Deegan. I have just made all you guys like a character who raped the protagonist. Sometimes I do things just because bad authors tried them and failed. Time to update my achievements.
Semi-related, I like to imagine in this setting, giving someone a scroll of Summon Xivilai is interpreted as the equivalent of giving someone a vibrator in our world.

This is what you are loving defending.

This reasoning is possible for forums user idonotlikepeas!
I think we can all agree that if someone includes an offscreen date rape in their story and then has the rapist brutally murdered shortly thereafter, they clearly unironically support rape and should be ostracized from polite society via the standard mechanism of repeated shitposts.

Agreed. Where can I sign the petition.
Though I really don't think it goes far enough, later once it's passed I'd like to see it amended to include people who create media including other major crimes, or just people who do or say or refer in passing to things I find offensive in general. I mean how dare they be allowed to post on the same forum/live on the same planet as us.

Yeah, this is the problem, in theory using ignore is great, in practice it's completely pointless unless everyone's doing it.

Anyway, Kaz I hope you have some extra money in the bank this year, because as of right now your part's already going to be $360 and there's still five days to go...

Also are you going to be personally delivering these Legos? You are planning on dressing up as Santa while you do this, correct?

Grimey Drawer
Audio, lets go with a different approach. I've got crippling self hatred issues and like to read a comic about someone else with crippling self hatred issues getting ahead and progressing in spite of setbacks.

The only web-comics I can think of that feature that are Dumbing of Age, Something Positive, Octopus Pie, Girls with Slingshots, and Ava's Demons. The first four comics have characters like that but they're ensemble pieces. You might not see that issue being dealt with for months on end. Ava's Demons is spiritually closest to how intense the self-hatred is but I'd really rather have the character struggle with their own internalized stuff as opposed to a literal ghost causing the problem.

Can you make such a comic? It doesn't have to star anyone in particular so long as it stars someone struggling with and overcoming at least a decade of self-hatred.

I am sure Audio applies his criteria fairly and similarly hates Breaking Bad (Walt violently hosed Sky out of nowhere because he felt like it), Archer (Lana gets sold for sex in a game of baccarat, is frequently exposed against her will) and Game of Thrones (violent, forced on-screen rape).

Let's stop talking about shitposts now.

Instead, let's have a serious discussion about Legos.

Do you guys feel that, as cool as they are, all the specific sets kids have to choose from now actually makes them use less creativity than the giant red bucket of random blocks we all had growing up?

I mean, this owns and I want to own it (buy it for me Kaz) but it's basically just playing with figures, there's not enough blocks in there to do much actual building.

I feel like, given enough playsets, kids will eventually Frankenstein together something.

I feel that directed sets are much better for creativity, as they are seeds for ideas. That arctic base could easily be a moon base, sea base or flying base with relatively small modifications, and could become the centrepiece for an entire self-made setting. As long as it can be broken down into sufficiently basic pieces, it won't inhibit creativity, but it might be the spark of inspiration that encourages it.

Also, with themed sets, your own creations can look a lot nicer than if you've just got a tub of basic thick bricks. But that's more of an adult interest.

Also maybe that ice base could have khajits or something, Prequel.

Kaz can do a fundraiser to fund his own contribution to his fundraiser.

1. Assemble playset.
2. Get bored with playset.
3. Disassemble playset, reassemble playset into new and more pleasing forms, and/or assemble other legos onto playset.
4. Get new playset, goto 1.
...
N. Wind up with giant pile of orphaned and half-built legos from which you scavenge parts, "finished" projects only last as long as you don't need parts from them for your new projects.

Doctor_Fruitbat

Imagination really needs a solid base of inspiration behind it as well as space to breathe. Lego sets get the hands working and let kids see how things can be constructed; once they're bored of their Lego city or think of something they'd like adding, they'll get right on it.

Edit: Audio's gone for a grouch in the webcomics thread, but he didn't say what comic he was referring to so everyone's ignoring him.

Those sets allow crazy pieces like the tank treads, drill, and dogs to be made, which allows for more creativity then a red bucket.

Just look at the Mixels, just a bunch of weird pieces slapped into a set that make what's one the bag, but those things are designed for you to go nuts making other things.

But the drill is just a drill and the dogs are just dogs? You're not 'making' them and you can't reconfigure them into anything else.

Though I agree that once you get enough spare parts handy anything is possible, at that point the specific set pieces are just icing on the cake. Which I guess means the best of both worlds would be the big bucket and as many custom sets you can afford. (Which is not many because drat those things are pricey now, I will never forgive my parents for donating my old collection...)

The problem is, you're looking at them separately, instead of as a whole. No, you can't deconstruct the drill or dogs, but you can jam them on the tank treads and make a dog driven world conquering drill tank.

Also, if you want cheap specialty pieces, you go Creator, look at this poo poo.

And they don't have it on the lego main site, but this set should still be in stores, and is amazing, like if you have the money to use on it, get in and be amazed at that main car.

It does feel like you get fewer parts than you used to, or like you get less adaptable parts. It could be an arctic base or a moon base, but it's not going to become a castle too easy. But then, when you reach a critical mass of lego in a bucket, it's not such a problem :black101:

I have this problem with my nephew. He wants to get the Lego Movie playsets and the Minecraft play sets and whatever but his mother is a bit obsessive and makes sure he doesn't mess them up or lose a single piece so he doesn't have much opportunity to get creative with them.

Thankfully he's hosed a couple of them up so we've now got a little bucket of random pieces. There's not much but we can sometimes make spaceships and houses and stuff from them.
