Indeed, CB has gone to some length to say that HS & Paradiso are both still valid as rulebooks. In terms of army lists and unit profiles, well, CB will be releasing a .pdf with updated costs and such sometime soon-ish (probably early January).

An element of the game that is objectively bad. Perdita is arguably bad. Magic grenades appear to be objectively bad. I'm not seeing what justifies the removal of shadow zones. Seriously, does anyone have any idea what they were trying to accomplish with the removal? In general, there are a lot of things in Infinity that I'm not sure I'd say are balanced or don't actually boil down to pure dumb luck instead of skill, and I don't care because they are fun and I don't really see a better game mechanic that would feel the same. There is some stuff like the lack of pre-measure that I think is a lovely design decision but I'm basically fine with because you usually just get kicked down to the next range band and that feels a lot less un-fun than completely losing your action like other games. I'm nearly entirely certain that having someone shell you with 7 to 9 magic grenades is not going to be fun for the player getting shelled. Especially since those grenades are likely going to be aimed at the models they least want to die, like their specialists or coolest model. I suppose it is possible it could be the most fun experience ever, but I really truly highly doubt it. I'm not convinced that it not being mathematically wunderbar is valid. The split second anything changes in the game as a whole or the game state of a specific table that makes the math work it turns into airbursting 2.0. Or someone just doesn't do the math and decides to start airbursting anyways. I suppose the position that it is such an egregiously pants on the head stupid mechanic that it will clearly get an errata so lets not worry about it is more or less reasonable. Then again, CB does have a long history of making mystifying decisions. These are the same guys who keep writing deviation rules that are don't make any thematic sense and are aggressively retarded mechanically.

I liked shadow zones even before I started playing the game, so I can't put any argument there. I'm still not sure if I like the silhouette thing. I know I hate it when it comes down to mathhammering stuff and like. How you can't take termies in Kill Team because more manz = better, since you can make that 2+ save only so many times.

Depends on how much value you put into Bioimmunity, Veteran L1, better stats and equipment for spending more points, they're a good profile if you want a stronger link team in NCA over Fusiliers. If you're just looking for linkable cheerleaders, stick to Fusiliers. Not to mention, being able to ignore LoL lets you take an aggressive Lt option (like the Squalo) in NCA and keep your link team functioning when/if it gets brought down. Add lieutenants and different range bands. Add in new rules that you want to play with (i.e. camo, link teams, mines) one at a time as you come to terms with the last one.

The list is OK, why the Bolt paramedic? For the same points you can throw in a Trauma Doc (14pts) leaving yourself 12pts to spare for either another model, or upgrading one and adding in a Palbot or two for the Trauma Doc. There is nothing wrong with the list though so you don't have to change it. +1 to what Bear Throne said though, much like other games, start off lower on the points scale if you're new and work your way up. Just got out of a game with a buddy using N2 profiles where I managed to rack up BS24 on a Riot Grrl link team using a Boarding Shotgun, I think his eyes were about to pop out of his head. We played the Supremacy scenario in the book which isn't a bad little one.

Veteran L1 on the Bolts also contains a little line I really like for additional sturdiness in their link teams. They ignore Isolated from both E/M and Hacking programs. So people cannot pull it apart from outside of LoF with spec E/M and the like.

So the best advice I have to anyone getting into N3 from N2 is to just purge N2 from your mind, 90% of the queries from my play group have been N2isms going over to N3. It's been the cause of some confusion in my play group, indirect template weapons (shotguns etc) caused some of this earlier today as they now function a bit differently.brother-joseph posted:The official site is down again. Finally got some N3 action and other than the frustration of having to constantly refer to stuff game, I think the changes have done a really nice job of making combat a lot more varied. The HMG is no longer a catchall beatstick, and I actually had some real problems when getting rushed down by shotguns. Command Tokens are neat, and I like how the cheaper coordinated orders seems to get more units in action a lot quicker. Loss of Lieutenant is still a bad enough disadvantage with being as completely game crippling as it used to be. Also close combat is a somewhat more viable option now, with some of my tougher NCA units getting beaten down from enemy CC hitting 20+ in many cases. If I had any complaints it'd probably be around the odd way they've handled scatter in all cases. While I guess it could have been a bit better streamlined from N2, completely removing it in some cases, and making it a set number in others just kinda seems like a really inelegant solution.

So, a local store is hosting a learning infinity night soonish, 150 pts no linkteams (because gently caress Tohaa, right) I was thinking something along the lines of: 3 fusiliers (one FO, one medic and one LT), a nisse sniper, an akali with a combirifle, 2 auxilia and a hexa spitfire. It comes out to 149/3. Would it work, or do I need a hacker?

Are you playing N3 or N2 with it? Assuming N3. But I don't think you need a hacker at 150pts.
