It is the most "revenge porn" game I've ever played, although maybe Hatred will dethrone it.

My GotY is probably South Park because this has been a trash year for games.
This post made me realized I've hardly played anything that was released this year. I've played a lot of awesome games, but most have been from 2013 & earlier.

Telltale's stuff has been pretty good, though, so I'll just lump all of their stuff into my Goty. Nothing's been as good as Walking Dead Season 1, but Season 2, The Wolf Humongous, and the 1st Episode of Borderlands were all good stuff, and I always get excited when a new episode of one of their games releases. I still have Episode 1 of Game of Thrones to play too.

Oh, I almost forgot, I think the Hexcells games released this year, so I'm going to say those ones too. Pretty much my favorite puzzle games ever, only downside is there's such a limited number of puzzles even across all three games and the randomly generated ones in Infinite are boring.

What's controversial about Hatred anyway? There are a lot of old games where "just fuckin shoot mans" was the whole game.

Hey, man, I distinctly remember this being an episode of Spongebob. :colbert:

Dark Souls 2 is my GotY, even though it was disappoint ing compared to the first. Honarable mention to Shadow of Mordor for proving licensed games can still be amazing, and MCC for being the GotY in concept, but failing so horribly in execution.

Hatred just looked like a 3D version of Postal 1 from the reveal trailer.

I think it's really about how it's much more blatantly innocent, unarmed people you're killing. Pretty much every "you are a psycho killer" game still pretty much exclusively has you killing people who are actively hostile towards you (Manhunt, Postal, GTA, Hotline Miami) and not executing civilians who are pleading for their lives.

Now now, Will Smith already tried negotiating with the Aliens and all they did was mindmeld with hobo-Data and be all "gently caress the planet." Also they deserved to be eradicated if their security was so poo poo a mid-90's Powerbook could take their poo poo out, even PSN and Live aren't that vulnerable.

The real controversial thing about Hatred is that it's made by Polish far right extremists.

As far as violent content go it's probably not the worst thing that exists but every penny spent on it is money given to a group of people who openly support groups that patrol night clubs to stop Muslim men talking to women.

Just buy Postal 2 instead. It is a legit fun game and you won't be directly supporting neo-nazis.

Pretty much. The removal of the game on steam for like half a day has made it pretty much destined to be popular, as well. It's as if something getting banned means it must be good in some people's eyes.

poo poo, I forgot about Hexcells. I'm at a point where I rarely bother to finish video games anymore but not only did I finish all 3 Hexcells games, as soon as I finished I played through all 3 of them again. Then I played enough of the randomly generated puzzles to have amassed a total of 60 hours of playtime between the 3 games.

Yeah I pretty much did the same thing. The hard puzzles are almost all still hard and fun to solve even when replaying it.

GotY would be easier if I could just pick one of the 3-4 year old games that I've actually have been playing.

A little unfair of me to say it's been a crap year for gaming when I've not even touched a bunch of cool titles like Shadow of Mordor.

I would have said Dark Souls 2 but I beat Bayonetta 2 two days ago so now my GOTY is Bayonetta 2. I'm gonna post a top ten though:

1) Bayo 2
2) Dark Souls 2
3) Hyrule Warriors
4) Legend of Grimrock 2
5) Binding of Isaac Rebirth
6) Dragon Age Inquisition
7)Super Smash Wii U
8) Theatrhythm Curtain Call
9) The Wolf Among us
10) Bravely Default

I just bought Wolfenstein and despite living in a major city it will take 7-8 days to download according to steam. Maybe by next week Comcast will bother to slightly fix their poo poo service.

DS2 was, on a technical level, an inprovement and a better game. It fell short in the worldbuilding area, with its less coherent world (enough has been said about that elevator), more vague item descriptions, and less apparent care put into details like enemy placement. The world and lore was one of the best things about the first game, so in that sense it was a bit of a letdown.

As I said, probably still my GotY, but I disagree that it was a strict improvement.

nah, i bought the explanation for the transitions being off as the world being a continent this time and having it have proper transitions would've led to boring rear end areas just for accuracy. the first games first half was amazing on world building no doubt, but the second half, while good, definitely wasn't close on any level to the first half. from start to anor londo is perfect, after that it's too piecemeal and varying in quality. dukes/caves was good, new londo is good but very short, cata/grave was ok but not wonderful. the less said about lost izalith etc the better. otoh DS2, while never hitting that first half of DS1, is far more consistent in quality over the entire game, the areas are all really interesting and there is no real dip in quality. i enjoyed the boss fights more as well. i wouldn't say I prefer 2 to 1 but they are about level for me and a lot of that even is just off of how loving incredible the first half of 1 was. mechanically and on the second half, DS2 was ahead easily.

and the DLC on 2 as well is just brilliant, overall package on both is close again but I admit that's a lot to do with nostalgia and DS1 being my first souls game. certain if I had played DS2 + DLC first it would be my favourite hands down.

nah destiny is on point with both actually. it's less RNG based but otherwise it's on it and I don't really see the marks situation as worse as you are guaranteed to get your gear rather than being likely to have to wait loving ages for gear. not playing it now as ive got loads of other games to play but ill come back to it after all the dlc is out
