I feel like you all are discounting the fact that Brian at MGoBlog said done deal. Done deal. Gregg Easterbrook writes in his notebook, done deal.

Provided that harbaugh to Michigan is true, who is the number 2 hire? Anderson to OSU or Narduzzi to Pitt?

Narduzzi to Pitt is probably about the best they could hope for, although the biggest splash was probably McElwain to UF

While briefly watching Penn State/Boston College featuring the lovely color of Matt Millen, I wondered what would happen if Millen came to Michigan to do a game. He'd probably anger Harbaugh, and Coach Jim would punch him in the face. That'd be pretty great.

Millen knows better than to appear anywhere within the state of Michigan these days.

Winkie01 posted:Anyone think he will be there when the season starts in 2018? I say no. For what it's worth, the same people that have been saying that Harbaugh is likely coming to Michigan for awhile now, are saying that he's in this for the long haul. He may not retire there, but everyone is expecting him to at least finish the contract, which is thought to be a 6 or 7 year deal. And yeah, on December 1st it was "why would he even consider leaving the NFL for college? He might as well go coach high school." On January 1st it'll be "sure he's there now, but he'll get the nfl itch and be back in 3 or 4 years". Timing for the announcement is a little uncertain. It could come quickly after the game tomorrow or maybe on Monday. But he will be introduced at half time of the Tuesday basketball game.

This is the one thing I absolutely call bullshit on If Jim was able to make and maintain friends, an entire team that was with him for years wouldn't have just run him out of town

If he does go to college, I don't see him coming back any time soon, if at all. I don't see any other motivation for him to go to Michigan other than preferring to coach college football over the NFL. There's decent job offers that will be available this offseason, and if this happens as quick as some people say it might, he wouldn't even have entertained any of them. It seems strange because he seems psychotically competitive, which you would think would demand he coach at the highest level, but he's kind of a strange dude in general.

Nick Saban wasn't much longer for the NFL either way.

Nick Saban knew he was going to get fired after the next season because his team was trash. I don't consider him to be a coach that voluntarily left the pros. Harbaugh would be though and that's super rare for coaches that make the leap to the pros. Harbaugh would be the most successful pro coach to return to college voluntarily by a country mile
