Whenever I see a bronze star license plate, I want to give the driver the benefit of the doubt, but deep down I know that the only person who would ever bother to get a bronze star license plate isn't someone who earned it for valor. e: The only E7 in my unit who got a BSM was the piece of poo poo PSG who was relieved for being retarded. The PSG who replaced him, as well as my PSG, didn't get one because they were only E6(P) at the time they were submitted, and the last guy was retiring after we got back so they decided it wasn't worth their effort to approve him for any award. psydude fucked around with this message at 15:47 on Dec 30, 2014 |

The most ridiculous example of this is I saw a specialist who had an arcom with valor and a purple heart on his erb. I was told that he had managed to live through some pretty crazy poo poo, but because he was an E2 at the time an arcom was all that he was gonna get. I'm sure bronze stars were thrown around by battalion staff congratulating each other on their heroic efforts.

My buddy managed to get a bronze star with v-device. Every single other bronze star in our entire battalion were for E7 and above. A couple of them deserved it, the rest were cocksucking fucks. Sorry to derail but is there not some sort of building codes department for army bases? The barracks I'm in hasn't had hot water in (3+?) weeks now. We've submitted the work order to the department of public works but they have been waiting for a mysterious 'part' to come in. No one knows what said 'part' is nor when it might arrive... They've been by a couple of times to fix the issue but alas, the 'part' is missing. We're pretty sure they have no loving idea what is wrong but I can't find anyone in my chain of command that gives enough of a poo poo to look into it. I'm hoping there is an actual plumber that took the month off and will magically show up on the 1st of January to solve our problems but I doubt it.

I love award time. It's the easiest way to tell who's a cockgoblin. The best Os and senior NCOs tend to not give a gently caress. One of the best NCOs I ever worked with burned his end of tour award paperwork right after we got it because he felt that all he did was his job and the campaign medal was enough. Which box some rear end in a top hat O6 whose name you'll never remember checks or doesn't check shouldn't define your service. The worst of us tend to be the ones who go out and get the license plate or whatever. We had one dude who, after coming back from deployment, had his (meritorious) Bronze Star re-presented to him at some kind of welcome home circlejerk that was covered in the local news.

Ask five different people when and you'll get five different answers. My water didn't even loving turn on when I got back from Afghanistan. Our most worthless PL was ovearheard by his roommate while at DEMOB demanding that a car dealership offer him a special rate because he was a bronze star recipient. He then went out and got the license plate, too. This is a guy who abandoned his project site after taking a single rocket (which exploded in the middle of nowhere like 100m from where they all were) and refused to work the next day. It's also the same guy who almost shot my roommate during a power outage because he was convinced the Taliban had cut the power to the base and were climbing over the walls.

Also had the chance to be present when my bc said privates don't rate silver stars. Also, we had medics not get CMBs just because they didn't feel like doing paperwork. I only know one guy with a BSM w/V. He is a Major, does not have license plates, and he is the chillest dude of all time. He became a good friend a couple years ago during my first mobilization, as he was the SGS at the time where I worked. I found out through others who deployed w/him about what he had done and then went and read his award and it was some maniac poo poo. Like "lone dude with a 9mm against a platoon of insurgents" poo poo. The people that really earn those awards don't run their mouths about them (or get screwed out of them all together). I got a loving MSM for doing my job for a year last year. Awards do not mean poo poo, especially in the Army. Defleshed fucked around with this message at 23:58 on Dec 31, 2014 |

I my platoon we had (no joke here, you can call me full of poo poo, but I can show sources) 4 BSM w/V, a Silver Star, and and ARCOM w/V. The dude with the SS tried to get the two BSMV that I mentioned before upgraded after he went OCS and worked at the Pentagon and was told that since they were E4s "not in positions of leadership" they didn't rate a change. Our mythical Congressional Investigation wouldn't do poo poo if it is that institutionalized.
