Beef Waifu posted:Yes, they're called his fists, you goon. Imagine how quickly he could reload a musket, or fire a bolt-action rifle with that speed! That'd be a much cooler way to use the power. Also, I hate that they simply threw away Hamon/Ripple. I liked the cool stuff done with it, such as wine-shots, deadly bubbles and pigeon attack.

Muskets and rifles and Ripple are useless against Stands, dog. Only a Stand can touch a Stand. Except for a couple Stands.

The problem with Hamon is that, especially in Phantom Blood, it just boils down to "I punched you more so I win".

To give Araki credit, Joseph was a really great character as a fighter too because the unique ways he applied the Ripple were cool and fun. It required genuine ingenuity and smart thinking and made him fun to watch. Unfortunately that is the problem with Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency is that he's the only one who's fun to watch. Caesar has one cool fight (Which is also his death fight), Lisa Lisa does gently caress all, Jonathan is punchman incarnate, and who gives a gently caress about any of the other Ripple guys like Straizo and Dire? Zeppeli is the only other one who comes close and most of his fun stuff is relegated to training Jonathan since when he gets in a fight it is punching with him too. Part of the reason Jotaro is cool is because Araki tries to find a way to mix the punching with ingenuity and it has mixed results. Although, poo poo like Rubber Soul, Steely Dan, and Justice were all cool fights that Jotaro could not just punch his way out of. A lot of the upcoming fights are similar to that too.

I don't even remember him using that thing beyond one time so I just count that as one of his cool things he did and never did again in any actual fights.

Nessus posted:Stroheim was pretty sweet but he has a couple of character flaws. One, his UV cannon recklessness nearly caused the annihilation or subjugation of the human race under the Ultimate Being. Two, in case you didn't notice, he was a Nazi. A really big Nazi. We're not talking 'forced into it,' we're not even talking von Braun 'well, they're immoral, but what can you do? i like rockets,' no, Stroheim presumably had the full backing of the National Socialist Regime. Yeah, and I appreciate that. Too many shows villify the Nazis, for very good reason. It would've been easy to make Stroheim a bad guy, or any of the Wehrmacht who featured in Battle Tendency for that matter. Quite the breath of fresh air there.

Real talk I never so much got into Joseph's BT shenanigans cause it just felt like he was pulling poo poo out of his rear end. It's funny and works for a lil while, but I was never at a loss as to whether he would win or not(cept for those times he didn't.) Introducing Stands really leveled the playing field and made battles much more exciting when everyone is constantly pulling that poo poo with each other.

Man, Jotaro and co. are going to be hosed when they get to Egypt and fight an escaped and recovered Santana now that the last Ripple Master can hardly belt out Beats. Also, JoJo's has been going on for, what, 30 years? Believe it or not, but Araki actually learns how to handle the dynamic of Stands and have fights more insane than anything in Battle Tendency. You know, only with some sort of rules or basis instead of just 2 buff dudes bullshitting each other because Ripple.

Yeah, Part 3 is the awkward, stumbling start of Stands. The Egypt section I think is where Araki started to really get a feel for the sort of poo poo he can do with them.

I'm not going to get into details, but the last volume of Stardust Crusaders is nonstop hype from start to finish, and ends up having some of the most memorable moments in a franchise that consistently has really over-the-top, strong endings (well, besides Phantom Blood). I get preferring to watch anime over reading manga, but you might want to read ahead to see how Stands are pushed to their most logical and illogical extremes. There's a character in a later part who's powers are basically Storm from the X-Men. Only instead of summoning tornadoes and thunderstorms he creates a rainstorm of toxic dart frogs by casting a miniature hurricane over a part of South America and induces hallucinations and mass hysteria via hypnotic rainbows caused by refracted sunlight shooting from holes in the ozone layer or something. Dude's a supporting character. Araki really leaves the low-hanging fruit of Fire Man or Sword Man behind after SC.

I think it's referring to a different channel airing the show. The PV from the end of last year specifically said the ninth. Stands own. I want one. I don't want read other people making up OC Stands though, it never ends well. Everything from here on out gets amazing as all hell.
