Wrecking at high speed is generally a bad thing regardless of the vehicle in use. Only difference between a hardtop and a convertible is that your arms don't get crushed by the car as it flips around and your face doesn't get the belt sander effect as it grinds into the asphalt. But you're still probably hosed.

Limbs flailing out is going to happen too on a tin top if you have your window open, the glass breaks, the door breaks and flies off, and you come loose in your belt. That MX5 roll cage held up well, better than most tin tops, and if you don't have window netting and doors welded like a nascar, nothing is going to help or change the risk anyway except never exceeding 20mph. I knew a guy several years ago that was driving his sandrail on a public road, he got a little too careless with the throttle and flipped it. His arm ended up between the cage and road. he didn't lose his arm, but man the scar was god drat ugly as gently caress.

don't drift the corner when you don't need too, the other guys are carrying their speed thru the turn handling the APEX, that guy was stupid it forced the blue car to go to the inside he still would have possibly hit the red car going on the outside cuz of his speed since he was drifting the corner. Playboy Dummy.....red car slowing down progress don't drift the corner unless the ppl behind you are not going to apex that corner Very very selfish on the part of the red car in my opinion.....

It's very easy to arm chair QB when you're not in the car where the incident happens in a split second and you've never been in an actual wheel to wheel race. Racing incident. The thing to take away from that video is ARM RESTRAINTS.

How does a cone do that?! It looks like someone is dragging it by a string. Maybe it's just the timing of the GIF but it looks like a magic cone.

That's tafheet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tafheet quote:Tafheet (تفحيط), or Hajwalah (هجولة) popularly known elsewhere in the world as Arab, Saudi or Middle East drifting, is an illegal street racing phenomenon commonly believed to be started in the late 1970s that involves trying to "drift" cars; to drive cars that are generally non-modified factory setup rental cars at very high speeds, around 160 – 260 km/h (100 - 161 mph), across wide highways throwing the car left and right. In the process, racers often drive dangerously close to traffic, barriers, and spectators watching from the sides without any protection.
