I can't quite tell if they've really taken their game to a new level or if it's just because I've been listening to nothing but archives for a year but the Wurster calls are loving killing me every week.

I was hoping for a better rant about comic con. There has to have been a great Tom story in there somewhere.

Tom completely not fitting in with the cast of Steven Universe is both hilarious and something he probably doesn't want to talk about because it makes him feel old.

More than anything I thought a day of him being surrounded by people dressed as animes and star wars characters would yield some comedy gold, but he seemed less cynical about it that I would have guessed.

Also, I think that guy from Queens threw him for a loop. You could tell he was trying to figure out if the guy was loving with him or if he was mentally disabled. I'm pretty sure it was the latter so it was probably good he just let the call fizzle out.

Really really hope tonights episode goes up as a Podcast (or, alternately, that someone, somewhere puts the full recording on the internet), because in this moment when The Best Show is being reborn and is perfectly situated to attract new fans, this is probably the greatest New Listener Primer you could have possibly ever created.

It was podcast. This is going to be the link I send to introduce people to the show from now on. Absolutely fantastic, end to end, and has a lot of the most famous high points from the shows history (sleaziest man in rock, Billy Crystal, etc.)

My only disappointment was that they played the first Bad Company call but not the second, which was way funnier

Definitely. I remember listening to that episode live and you could hear the glee in Tom's voice the second time he did it, as he realized that he was on to something special.

It always surprises me when Tom has a loss, be it at the end of the WFMU years, and other things, but you really feel the loss with him. He's that good.

I don't have much imput. I just wanted to say I'm really happy about how the show is turning out after I had my reservations over them switching to online streaming (It wasn't necessarily clear if the show was gonna be at night, 3 hrs, with AP mike etc. from the first announcement) but things seem to be going well. The callers have been fine so far, I thought the shrunken audience might've lead to worse calls/bad callers getting on more but the shows been near identical to the old one. I'm still pissed Spike hasn't called in, there's no way he can't access the stream/isn't aware that the new show has started.

Tom will be returning to WFMU tonight as a guest on Pat Byrne's show Prove It All Night from 9-midnight. If you live nearby and want to go this will be in their Monty Hall studio for $5. My girlfriend and I live in Jersey City so I'm definitely going to check this out.
