I think the issue with JRPG runs is that if you haven't played the game you don't really understand what's going on even if the commentator is really good. Usually when they run JRPGs I watch it with a friend who loves them and he goes into all of the specific details of what exactly is skipped and I get somewhat of a sense of what just happened but ultimately I'm still :what: about it. When you're not walking on air, moving at speeds that anyone can clearly see wasn't intended or clipping through poo poo it really just becomes a playthrough for most people.

It's mostly routing, really. The FFVII run this marathon should be quite fun, tho.

Good news! FF7 can be beaten in 3 hours now. It will be a treat and should be enjoyable if you have even a vague knowledge of the game.

Everything changes, Pit.
Even gods.

Paper Mario is another game like Diddy Kong Racing where any% is a lot of fun even if it takes an hour or so, since there's tons of cool skips and a lot of high-risk tricks to pull off that break the game apart, but on 100% it's just a boring overly long slog through the entire game.

FF13 is actually a cool run that involves a lot of good execution, it's also an entertaining run because you can make fun of the plot while you skip the utscenes

why? it's pretty demonstrably true if you just look at the schedule.

FF7 is some broken rear end game but it does take a decent while of the usual boring JRPG fare before it really gets going, but it gets going and it's pretty special when it does.

There was a TTYD run but I don't think it ended the marathon. I recall the last run being FF6 and I mostly remember that because the runners acted out the opera.

They aren't using the disc swap glitch that fucks up the map, are they? It produces really interesting results (such as allowing Aeris to witness her own death), but it's kind of cheating to use a completely different game to do it.
