OK so the last time I read this thread was like 6-8k posts ago and there's a lot of poo poo I've missed, but I've got a few questions. Quests? The gently caress? these seem kinda cool to unlock new stuff, I'm guessing that's what they are? Syndicates? these look just like resource sinks? Warframe Prime Access? I'm not sure I get this. Is this basically DE asking me to spend £50 to buy a warframe and some gear instead of crafting it normally? or can I only buy it? Seems ludicrously expensive. The ship is pretty cool though.

Archwing, Kubrows, and two of the new warframes come through quests plus another new warframe requires a quest to get the blueprint for the key to the boss mission that drops the pieces. 2. They are worthwhile resource sinks. The tier 5 ability augment mods (some of them at least) and specialized secondary weapons are pretty awesome. 3. Prime access let's you buy the new prime gear instead of farming it all from the various void missions that drop the pieces you need to construct them. Personally I'd never go for it since acquiring prime parts is most of what you do anyway once you reach a high level, but some people absolutely have to have it now. Also, I think some of the cosmetic accessories are exclusive to prime access if you care about those.

I'm not sure I get this. Is this basically DE asking me to spend £50 to buy a warframe and some gear instead of crafting it normally? or can I only buy it? Seems ludicrously expensive. Quests are story things that give you rewards. Some are way grindier than others. Limbo is horrible with its drop rates, but the Once Awake quest has zero grind whatsoever and Mirage is gated by building each part in the Foundry. Syndicates aren't primarily resource sinks, they actually add a new resource(Rep) that you gain alongside Affinity. After a few levels in whatever syndicate you're grinding, you can start buying cool poo poo with the Rep. You'll mostly be gaining this as you do other stuff so it's not much of a grind. Prime Access is just buying the newest Prime weapons/warframe instead of having to grind it out in the Void, plus an exclusive cosmetic armor pack($50 if you buy it by itself{never do this}). They've started adding the cosmetic bits to the game though, via the Prime Trader available in the Tenno Relays which sadly did not all get blown up in the most recent Event. Prime Access is a hell of a deal now because all of the new Primes will forever have at least one part that only drops in t4s at 20 minutes with a sub-5% drop chance. It's pretty loving bad. Also there's now Nullifiers which are immune to powers and guns fired from outside their aoe until their bubble pops. Denzine fucked around with this message at 18:48 on Jan 5, 2015 |

You can grind all those prime frames/weapons that you get, the only thing you don't get are the fancy customization stuff from the prime pack. But those might eventually end up with the void trader at some point... maybe. Quests are a nice way to unlock new stuff, yes. Syndicate are resource sinks that also give you access to unique mods and weapons, blueprints and tower IV keys.

Flipswitch posted:OK so the last time I read this thread was like 6-8k posts ago and there's a lot of poo poo I've missed, but I've got a few questions. Syndicates are more time sinks than resource, but you get their rep on top of normal xp so there's no real reason not to go for one unless you're simply terrified of consequently pissing off the other syndicates and getting their random invasion mobs gunning for you once in a blue moon (you shouldn't be, they're basically free xp) Prime Access gear is craftable, but the drop rates are incredibly low for key pieces (intentionally) because yeah F2P. That being said, they're just slightly better (and much more shiny) versions of existing weapons and frames which are much easier to craft on your own without any void poo poo. Each Prime Access sticks around for around 90 days, so feel free to go get the normal versions of those things (Soma, Vasto, Nova frame) and see if you like them enough to drop $80 on the extra bling versions. It also comes with plat at roughly the same discount as a 50% off voucher, so if you're going to buy plat anyway and you're not seeing any 75% vouchers come your way (been playing since update 7 here, never seen one) then it's not a bad option. The super deluxe Prime Access comes with some cosmetic stuff that actually is otherwise unobtainable, plus 90 day boosts, but lol $130

Fit maxed-out +Strength and +Range mods and a 2-3 pip +Efficiency, and try it again. Keep in mind that 1) you can spam it repeatedly, and 2) it doesn't break invis while you're spamming it. If you start on a full energy bar, it is basically an "everything around this node dies NOW" ability for Interception. 4-5 casts of it is sufficient to kill Ogmas. (And the minute you decloak, you instantly pick up all the energy balls that everything has dropped, so you're back on full energy again.)

Quests are also around for two game features - Archwing and Kubrows. Archwing in its current state is probably about as polished as the game was several months in, but most players find the mechanics substantially less fun than normal gameplay with reasons ranging from more tedious leveling to movement and gun mechanics. There are few disagreements, however, that Archwing melee is more fun than regular melee. Nullifiers need some tweaks if we want some of the kill fest Serious Sam type of game or if we'd rather move toward something closer to Metal Gear Solid Revengeance or even Bayonetta that while still possible to cheese has some reward for skilled kills. Just increase affinity for killing enemies with stealth, melee combos, wall attacks, etc that are actually compelling and we may not care anymore. DE took community advice well on how to fix why we even needed Viver, and that worked fine. Warframe has a bit of an identity crisis when it comes to gameplay pacing and it results in something nobody can really describe very well on paper, most of us in this thread included. Some things are super satisfying, other things feel off. And sad to admit it, but DE has pretty much admitted that the community thinks these sorts of things through better than them.

So a friend of mine is having a strange issue where he can't pick up any syndicate medallions if I host a mission, the prompt pops up, he presses the button and the prompt disappears but nothing gets picked up - and the weirdest thing about this if we've tried him hosting and the medallions just don't spawn at all. Any ideas? He's not capped and he's on the same syndicate as I am.

Mango Polo posted:What's the best way of farming an Archwing from rank 0/no mods to "kill everything gently caress spaceships I'm a ninja"? Do Earth Archwing interception and then try to get into the Uranus Archwing interception. Sadly all other missions are just too slow for AW leveling of any kind. Uranus Archwing is hands-down the best way to level AW/Archweapons, with Earth AW being a far second. You can usually find a goon group to leech off, but if you can't stick to Earth int as it's fairly newbie-friendly. How far are you with your AW equipment? Ask in clanchat for any mods, particularly ones that give your weapons corrosive damage. You also want shields and shield regen for AW. That should be enough to get you going.

In my quest to have all the non prime frames, I have hit a wall. I am out of plat to put my new Banshee, Nekros and Frost in a nice home Only need Limbo, death to that excavate mission! 40+ excavators, no helmet! Mesa, Volt, Zephyr, Hydroid. Nova and Mag look... dumpy compared to the other frames. They are just boring to look at.

Sell a couple prime bits or corrupted mods. A couple weeks ago I was complaining about not having enough slots, but then I sold a few things and flipped a ton more, and now I have ~1k plat and enough slots for everything. I think I'm done selling unused weapons to clear up slots, except for the strictly inferior ones like Burston (non-prime). Recently released primes like Soma and Nova are good bets, as are the high-demand corrupted mods like Narrow Minded, Overextended, Fleeting Expertise, and Heavy Caliber. The market for Overextended in particular has been pretty wonky lately; I sold one for 150p. It was maxed, but it's only a 5 rank mod, so lol. I'd check wftrading.net to figure out rough prices, then when trying to sell, ask for like 20% more than you think is reasonable.

TheRationalRedditor posted:150p for a maxed overextended? That's some kind of desperation! Trade pubs are literally idiots. Around xmas time, someone in there was buying an R10 rare mod, and someone else was selling the same mod. I asked them both what they wanted to sell/buy at, The seller said "380", The buyer said "720". I stalled the buyer, haggled the seller to 320, then haggled the buyer to 760. Sure, YMMV, but there's tons of plat out there to be made, and pubs are legendary at making horrible financial decisions. Another great trick is region importing, since each region has it's own trade chat. Figure out where things are going cheap, buy, then sell wherever they're highest.
