No snow yet..bastards got my hopes up this morning, then leave me blue balled tonight..argh! This morning my youngest cat Jack was missing. She always greets me when I come home, so when she wasn't waiting by the door and blasting up the hallway to the bedroom in front of me, something felt off. I looked before trying to sleep and never found her. I got up to pee around noon or so and looked again, called for her, etc. The other cats acted like nothing was amiss, but I was seriously freaking. Tore apart the living room, cushions off all the couches, lifted them to make sure she wasn't inside them like she used to do when she was a baby and skinny. No good. I called my wife at work and told her and she left work two hours early to help me look. Her (mine too I guess) nieces were staying the night with us and I was worried they could have accidentally let her out or she got stuck somewhere, somehow, trying to hide from them. Go outside and walk around calling for her, look under the shed, etc, under the house in case she found a hole somewhere and crawled down and got stuck. Nothing. Wife gets home, we go through the couches again, my lounger, the spare bedroom, kitchen cabinets, fridge, freezer, microwave, TOASTER OVEN... Nothing. No little meows and the other cats are just like, what the gently caress. Wife goes back and checks our closer again and finds her on top of a suitcase. She bolted into the living room and behind the end table. I pet her and picked her up and carried her into the bedroom. That little bitch! Made me look stupid and completely incompetent..but I was so scared she got out or had..died..somewhere in the house..

The Dude is the loving king of crafty hiding spots. There's been several times now where we thought he'd gotten out, only to find him laying, say, on the dining room table behind a fake plant centerpiece, or curled up in a chair in the dining room (we never use that room), or on a table behind a lamp, under a couch, or in the master bedroom closet behind clothes... or between the side of the kitchen refrigerator and wall. He's only gotten out once, and I'd like to keep it that way. He's also super quiet, and pretty much only vocalizes if his food bowl is empty. We're supposed to get snow on Thursday.

You aren't far off from the truth; apparently we had 9 earthquakes in the region today (6 actually within DFW). EVERYBODY PANIC It felt like someone slammed the front door really hard a couple of times, the rest I didn't notice. Also I just did something stupid. I used to always dye my hair black, except for a few blonde experiments (ew). Haven't done it in a few years. We'll see how badly I hosed up once my hair dries. My hands look like I jacked off Papa Smurf, thanks to my goony hands being too big for the gloves that were included. edit: forgot something funny. The owner of the store I work at was in the other day, and commented on my shoes. "Those are quite flashy shoes, what does DC stand for? Dolce and Gabbana?" I laughed until I realized he was serious.. got to explain the whole "I used to skate in my teens and 20s, and still prefer skate shoes; they're the most comfortable type of shoes I've ever worn, and I still like they way they look". I'd probably fall off a board if I got on one now, it's been at least 8 years and 50 pounds since I touched one. randomidiot fucked around with this message at 11:12 on Jan 7, 2015 |

Armed, masked gunmen attack the offices of a French satire magazine, killing 12 people and injuring 7: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-30710883 They're currently on the run and France is on high alert. The magazine Charlie Hebdo is known for publishing strong biting satire bordering on the obscene, and they were among the publications that published the infamous Muhammed cartoons back in 2006, which they have also republished a number of times since. In 2011 their offices were firebombed, possibly related to these publications.

A friend's older brother tried to kill himself last night. Recently his son was injured under his supervision and his wife used this in court, she was awarded full custody and he was allowed only one supervised visit per month. This is down from joint custody and having his son alternating weeks. He'd turned his life around when the boy was born, he lived for that kid. I'm told he tried to OD and still hasn't woken up. My buddy is a loving mess so I know what I'll be doing tonight.

The rest were smaller ones through the night. the 3.5 was a pretty good thump. Everything creaked and swayed, and it startled the hell out of me. There was also another 2.7 this morning. Interestingly, almost all of them are in the area where Texas Stadium once stood.

I paid a lot in garage bills and MOT's and every little thing that broke on it cost me £50+. Then the tax will hurt your wallet and feeding it fuel will make you cry. However, It was a lovely car for cruising around in and the air con worked. I did a lot of long motorway journeys and my record was 101 miles driven without touching a pedal.. Jag all the way, if even only because it's got some MOT. I'd hate to think what horrors you'll find when you try to MOT the Saab. I like how the jag guy says "it'll do 100 in third" as if that is an important performance metric.
