The Republican Party of Iowa has gotten the message from the RNC that it can go ahead with plans to continue hosting the Ames Straw Poll. Fans of BBQ, country music, and busing in people from Illinois to vote for fringe candidates rejoice.

Winners of the Ames Straw poll: 2011: Michele Bachmann 2007: Mitt Romney 1999: George W. Bush 1995: Bob Dole and Phil Gramm (tie) 1987: Pat Robertson 1979: George H. W. Bush Ron Paul came in 2nd in 2011 (losing by 4,823 to 4.671) and 5th in 2007.

Trees are now even more the correct height. Lemonade is now more lemony, wetter, and better. Fresh cookies taste more like stale 7-11 garbage. It's time to get LEED-compliant. It is time to

He's had three years to take his hundreds of millions of dollars, his network of people and even the very souls in his Mormon stake congregation whose afterlife he rules with an iron fist, and actually do something worth getting back the nomination. Take a simple problem, and visibly, publicly spearhead the effort to solve the gently caress out of it. Even on a private enterprise basis, start a company that does something electable. Be they guy that sticks EV and hydrogen stations everywhere in battleground states, use Bain-math to make everything look profitable, and march around for the entire primary going, "No, let ME tell YOU how to solve this' country's dependence on foreign oil! <applause> Because unlike you I went out and did it! <applause> Let him die! <muted applause>" But he was content to just be photographed by Reddit at gas stations and checkout lines. And thank his polygamous god for that.

That sounds like a good way to approach the general, but he needs to survive the primary first, and you ain't gonna get there with some fancy liberal hydrogen fuel cells instead of God's own gasoline.
